I've raced the E46 M3 you're talking about, with my CLK 500, Not a 550. and it was damn close. from 0-35ish, the m3 had me by about 10 feet, reeled him in from 40-75ish. then pulled on him from 80-113MPH, that's when i hit 4th gear at 6200 RPM. then he pulled on me until my limiter at 133, but nothing like him walking me. from 113-130 he put about 2 cars on me.

Now. take a CLK 550, with 7 forward gears v. my 5 gears. and another 80 HP and 52 ft-lb of torque.

anyone who got past the 7th grade can tell you who will win that one.

Just a suggestion. I have my calipers powder coated black and if I could go back I would of picked a different color. You can't really notice the black as much as red or silver. Just my opinion

It's up to you but..... I wouldn't go black for the calipers. Red, Yellow.... anything but black, and Pink.

I still wouldn't go with black though. IMO. Are those the original calipers that came with your car cuz I have a set looks just like that off an SLK 350....Probably going with silver with black lettering..

Not sure what color your interior is but if you have black ash, you can do a group buy from ForMyMercedes.com with me to get center-dash trim in black ash along with the wood insert for the glove compartment..IMO it adds a nice finishing touch to the interior.

Here is a CLK55 with the wood insert in shiny black, looks good.

Not sure if you have LEDs, if you don't, you should get some. I can't really tell if you have it or not from the picture. I changed all my interior bulbs except map lights to LEDs. I got them from Sonic tuning. They are great. It's a small mod on the looks department, but it makes a huge difference IMO.
I think you have enough power in your 550, i would just make it look nicer. Quad, CF lip & diffuser, Rims, lower it..

Back on topic....

This is the order of mods in order from most beneficial to least beneficial...

#1 Headers > #2 Pulley > #3 High flow Cats > #4 ECU upgrade

K&N filters also help slightly, but really are more for sound than power. High quality oil can help as well.

Hope that helps.
