Exhaust Work + A Surprise
Before:
After:
Here's the best part, and then on the way back from the exhaust shop, my friend in his e90 and I decided to take some fun backroads....bad call. I was driving behind him and all of a sudden, I dive into this pothole. I hit it so hard, I swear I almost lost consciousness for a second...and then my whole car started shaking and I knew something bad happened. Tire completely blew out

Pothole...my car off in the distance:
Mind you, if you were nailing it, then you may well have got off quite lightly.
Take it easy, bud.

Great work with the exhaust though!
Looks nice and neat.
Looks great too.

3" bore, aren't they?
They look like bloody great drainage pipes under there!

Awesome.
.Edit: here is my plan for tomorrow I will paint them to black (pipes, exhaust ...the whole thing lol). Just got me a high temp paint.

I had my silencer/ resonator/ muffler (whatever the hell!) removed today as well!
And by way, they are 2 cats.
There are 4 in total (on mine anyway).
2 right up close to the headers and then the 2 near the silencer/ resonator/.......
Sounds alot more angry now

But quiet when cruising, which is great.
Only sounds angry when under load.
Been cleaning the car since I got back, so I'll have to wait until my next drive to find out of there is any noticable increase in performance/ throttle response.
Very happy with what is a cheap and quick mod!

Post pics and sound clips, Please!

BTW, pick up any noticeable horsepower with the secondaries deleted?
Hey bud.
Laws are quite strict over here and I didn't want to have any issues with the emissions down the line. So I kept the cats in place and did a simple swap with the muffler.
I've noticed that the 63's that are coming out now have a more rougher, barky note to them (goddman it! lol)
The CLK63 seems to sound quite reserved in comparison.
Perhaps it has an earlier exhaust design?, so I just wanted to roughen the exhaust note a touch.
Seems to have worked a treat.
Not "in your face", but alittle more attitude.

I wish they would sell Non-BS CLK63 coupes in the US.
I really like your car (and those wheels). Take care of that beauty!
No worries, bud.
I thought I may as well get under there and take some pics!
They were good guys and didn't mind.
Yeah, a few guys have mentioned that they were annoyed that the Coupe wasn't made available in the US. That does suck.
But I sure would prefer your petrol prices.

Thanks for your kind words too.
The wheels are quite new.
They are Mandrus rims.
Alittle old hat now perhaps, but I think they made a good replacement for my old Carlsson 1/16 rims.
I take good care of the car too.
(Getting abit OCD about it actually)
LOL

This mod is written on my whiteboard! LOL... just need to have and exact date! hehehe.. If anybody knows... pls respond..... for removing 2nd cat and resonator delete in California....
THANKS A LOT!

How you doing.
Yeah, I still have all 4 cats in place.
In the UK, we have to subject our cars to an MOT test every year.
This is basically a top to bottom inspection on the vehicle to make sure it is road worthy.
One of the inspection items is an emissions test.
I decided to keep the cats in place, to save any problems down the line.
I'd hate to remove my cats in favour of complete straight pipes, only to go and buy new cats etc because the emissions are too high.

Resonator delete and changing the muffler is okay.

anyway... are you sure that's not you in the photo? lol... jk

Andy you only had resonator deleted for now right? Is that the second cat getting painted first?
BTW.. I just found a very nice guy who smogged my car... I wanted to ask him if he can always pass my car! LOL... but I feel guilty.... he owns the place and he only get like 1-3 customers per day... LOL... He is young though I think 18-21yrs old... I think daddy pays good... and just let his son get a starting business....
So yah.... I wasn't able to ask him to make my car pass every time I have the test... I dont want to ruin his Business license...
Anyway.. lets talk more about straight pipes... why is it not allowed? is it because they are cheap?
how about those harleys and other big bikes that makes the road scream! Just to confirm... 2nd cats and resonator... deleted... ok in california or not?
I was thinking that you meant straight pipes all the way = powpow gets mad and become a T1! LOL

Resonator delete and changing the muffler is okay.
