Rodney: Yes it is similar, however on my w204 there are the following major differences:
1. less room as valve cover and attachment (large black circle area on youe photo) extend way farther over the top of the sensor towards the firewall
2. the sensor is attached via a torx screw (T30 is my guess) rather than a torx bolt. confirmed with boroscope and camera
3. the connector on top of the sensor is a 90 degree right angle witha whilte slide clip, similar to the connector to the MAF. The 90 degree appears to be on this model due to the limited clearance per 1 above and another sensor directly above it.
My spologies about being in the wrong forum but the discussion has helped, seeing some similarities to the sensor removal on various models.
I think the next step is to cut
the tie wrap nearby, and find a way to slide that white portion of the connector up so that it can be unplugged. Crank sensor is on the right.

That does not look right. i still think you are not in the right place. Here's the WIS doc specific to your car. Maybe it will help you identify the CPS.

BTW, what symptoms/problem are you having that you are trying to fix with a new CPS?

No, My photo is correct for the crankshaft position sensor. I managed to remove and replace it, see photos below of the T30 torx screw, the parts and the right angle connector.
The fault is crank no start. It suddenly died 4 days ago in my garage and never restarted. Fuel is 55 psi at the rail, and fuel fuses are good. The car seems a little better now during crank, but pops and shudders, only starting for max 1 second. Car was maintained only at MB and was fine until now, off warranty.
No CEL codes using torque pro and ELM bluetooth adapter. Stuck now without a car, any tips are appreciated! Thx

Well, I'm glad you got it fixed! I see now in your photo - I thought you were talking about the item on the left with the metal flange. I see now it was on the right, and then i see your notation at the bottom of the photo.
I seem to recall working on one of these where the bolt was a "Torx" head like yours and not an "e-Torx".

Woohoo! The spark tester showed spark on cyl 1 even though the car would crank and stumble after the new crank sensor was replaced. So I figured the car flooded when the sensor failed and so many start attempts after.
So I tried a few more times and boom... started up fine, and revved up to 6000 rpms no problem, no CEL on dash and throttle response is good and she idles bang on.
I bet the intake and valves need a cleaning now, any tips for seafoam or intake cleaner location? pcv valve hose? brake booster line?
Thanks for all your help!!

HI,
I just replaced my CPS, but i felt "wetness" , oil seeping out of the sensor next to the CPS like shown from above pictures by gardenmaster. Can you please tell me what that is?
