Hey guys, so for the past month, I've been wanting to lightly tint the clear part of the taillights. I bought a 12x24 roll off eBay for like $8, and it being my first time trying to apply vinyl to a curved surface, it didn't come out that great. I ordered another roll, and this time...took my time and it came out PERFECT!

Also, I finally got a good video of what a CLK550 sounds like with deleted resonators, you'll hear it get real throaty towards the end of the video.

why you tint only the reverse light area?
i was thinking to tint mine full ,i have the prefacelift ones

I want to tint mine because the 63 has the reverse light darked out a little. Not as dark as that however its all about your taste preference

After I applied the tint, I took a razor blade slowly around the edges. The film cut really easily, almost too easily as there are little micro scratches in the taillight, but not noticeable at all.


Not really going for the modded look, more like the SL55 taillight look.

I just check kevblah's Ebay URL and they have the video on how to install the smoke film...

the Tint looks great. I wonder if that roll will be able to finish the prefacelift tails.

I dont think so quofan..they are only 12" you will need longer than that if u want to do the whole light.

What's the visible light transmission (VLT) ? should be around 20%

Try the spray tint, that way you could make it as dark as you want
