Thanks for the info. That's pretty steep. There is a leak on my valve cover as well. But the dealer sealed it. I don't think any parts are replaced. They used some kind of glue. My car drives fine, but it's been bothering me for the past 20k miles. LOL. I really should get it fixed.
BTW, you can see and touch your engine mounts if you look into your engine bay. They look like 2 rubber buns (could be yellowish in color due to aging).

44,709; I got a bunch of little stuff fixed just before the warranty ended on it's 4th birthday: passenger seat frame (wasn't pivoting forward), power door locks and EIS (wasn't unlocking pass door when driver's door opened), some tranny clips had fallen off, causing hard downshifts, brake pads all around and rotors up front.

I'd like to see that too; seems a lot of those broke, and folks got them fixed even outside warranty.

The first CLK I looked at to buy in 9/2009 had it broken, and I offered them $21,500 as-is; they had been asking $22,995, and didn't want to budge....said they could MAYBE do $22,500. I had been able to look it up on an auction website and learn that they had paid $20K a few weeks before, so I walked and took my chances at the auction myself. Paid $21,625 for one, which needed front pads/rotors. I kicked myself for a week or so that I didn't just pay the $22,500 for that other one, a black on black. Once I was driving my silver one, I pretty much got over it. Know what? They STILL have the black one 8 months later! Price is down to $21,995 now:

Bought mine 11/08 with 24k miles. Currently have 57k. Only issues so far was steering column up and down drive mechanism and cracked 3rd brake light, which was fixed under warranty. I have an extended warranty but haven't used it yet.

I do all my own maintance so that saves me a lot of money. Just did the 7spd (722.9) transmission flush and it only cost me under $200 with all the parts, necessary fittings, and oil dispensing tool.

Did you replace the valve cover gasket yourself? Mine is leaking by the passenger's side and I've been wanting to fix this. How hard is it to replace?

Does anyone know how much it cost to replace the tranny (out of warranty)?
I am in the precess of researching my next car; the number of tranny related failures reported here is concerning. How can a car 23000 miles on the clock already need a new transmission?

I paid my Indy shop $500 to replace the gaskets, figured the added warrenty was worth the added cost. I also replaced my Valeo radiator the same day (nothing was wrong with it; it was a peace of mind thing).

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay to get the Valeo rad replaced and what brand did you replace it with? There are a few 2003 CLK in my area but up to this point, I have been staying away from them for fear of future tranny issues.

bought ours on 52k 3months ago, it's now on 57K and i'm about to go on a driving holiday of the UK but, i stick with Benz because of the durability!
Had to change inlet manifold motor and have the A/C re gassed.
Hopefully wont get into tranny problems like rumour has it.

I believe the replacement is a Behr Rad.

For the radiator swap, my Indy shop charged me $500 for parts and labor. I wanted to get a Behr radiator, but my Indy shop doesn't allow customers to bring their own parts and they couldn't guarantee me one (they buy only genuine MB parts, so they said they wouldn't know what brand it would be until they open the box; no refunds after that). For some reason, they did say they could order a Nissin radiator; so I had them install that (as long it's not Valeo). So far, I've had no issues with it.

Alternator died at 20,000 and still under warranty. It's got 28,800 miles, bought it a year ago after my 99 CLK430 was rear ended and totaled.

3rd brake lamp was replaced.
Alarm was replaced 3 months ago.

Existing problem.... smell from a/c When it was still under warranty, they said they had drilled some holes to drain the water, but the smell came back about a month later.
