Compared to OEM, how's the braking performance? Is there any noise (no noise with OEM)?

braking power should be similar or a lil better, but less dust for sure.

Noise? After you change your pads, it's pretty common for it to make noise for a while, it should be gone after weeks or month depend on how much you drive.

My first set started to squeak a little but it was because the person that installed them for me never put the paste on. Now the second time around so far so good. For the little amount of dust they give off I could live with the occasional squeak

Yeah, im also going to upgrading to Akebono. The OEM brakes are dusty as hell and the noise is insane from time to time.

My Question, related the changing brake pads: How difficult is it to do yourself (or myself.?) Any special tools needed?

Some pics I took today before washing the car. You could see the difference in brake dust between the Brembos (Front) and Akebonos (Rear). This is one week of driving.

CLS 55 AMG
I recently tried replacing my pads on my 2006 CLS 55 AMG in the front. My motivation was also the brake dust. I did a little research and ended up selecting the EBC Red Stuff Replacement pads.

After the installation I noticed a load squeal. I couldn’t believe it was coming from my Merc. I drove the car only a hundred miles or so before I decided to put my original pads back on. The squeal was soo loud that I was embarrassed to apply my breaks. People would turn to see what the load noise was coming from.

I couldn’t stand the loud vibration and noise. To EBC’s defense, they do explain in the following link that the brake pads have a material that is lined on the surface that aids in the bedding of the pad. I was too impatient.
