Intake mods....(another one)...this has some well thoughtout pics..

So i browsed the crossfire forums just for fun today and came across something that was fairly intresting...everyones latest "CAI" was just two filters and two 2.5" piping attached to the stock airbox...ghetto in my opinon and a probable loss in power...as the OEM has the near perfect design....

well, what do you guys think about this?...3" piping stepped down to a gradual 2.75" piping....and filters sitting infront of radiator...(similar our stock setup but with filters upfront)

then just for fun....make a code3 intake air diverter plate with a crossfire intake chamber to direct airflow into the SC...but with a mini snorkle to avoid heat soak....lol. seems a bit far fetched....but since we're on gaining more power...

the reason why I state to pickup crossfire parts for modding is because its probably cheaper than hacking up a MB part thats costs 4x more...

Look cheap, more heat soak and can't use it years round.

I know what you saying...I used to custom something like that back then but instead of the 2 filters that they (according to the pics) put near the radiator (which is good for more cold air) I put those inside and YES I did lose power thats why I took them off and go back to stock (im talking about my 320). But since the two filters that sitting outside maybe we get more air out of that ?

There's only so much an NA engine pulling air and anymore bigger air box is useless. The AMG air box is the best. The air sitting outside is good but then what happen when it rain?

NegroC230 did something interesting.

He took out the OEM battery, replaced it with a small battery, ran a pipe from the MAF to where the battery is now, had a Y section, and two cone filters. Then he ran a "RAM" pipe from the intake ducts into the section where the battery is. He dynoed it with some power and tq gains. IMO it looks a bit back-yard ish, but I've seen it, and heard it in person. It sounds amazing.
