Reviving an old thread, hope you noobs don't mind

I'm thinking about dropping my car on H&R springs and I wanted to know that if I decided to drop on just the springs, would my shocks and other suspension components give out soon?

I dropped my W203 on Tein springs and I remember my shocks gave out not too long after, and I think the control arms, too.

I had 54k miles when I put the H&R springs on. I didn't want to take a chance so I switched the shocks/struts also. I guess it depends on how many miles you have on your suspension. I don't think the OEM suspension was meant to be used with such low springs. You might want to play it safe.

You might be able to get away with just springs for now. If it were me, I would change the suspension also. You don't want to end up spending lots of $$ later just to save some now.

mmm. if your doing the install yourself, you can choose to just swap springs now and shocks/struts later. just know that with your ride being lowered, its going to put more weight on the shocks/struts causing them to wear out faster.

when i changed out my shocks/struts last month (81k mi) the corner where the sub sat was completely worn. lol

but just know your going to have to change it out sooner. you wont go wrong with konis =) been loving them every single day. lol

also your might wanna just go with springs now and wait for koni to have another sale. i think i may be able to get a nice price for a set of konis too. PM me for more info.

Looking at coilovers.

Does anyone know where I can get a good price on KW Variant 2s (part no.15225004) or PSS9s (part no. F4-GM5-8860-H2) for a 2009 CLK550.

Thanks in advance
