How to improve the bass (HK)
I'm happy with my harman kardon sound system, except for the bass level. I think the subwoofer is quite soft compared with the rest of the system. Any of you has replaced it? What have you installed?

im sure you can get an aftermarket sub with box. and tap the signal from the original hk sub to your new sub.
or i think there is a product from audison that does that and you can connect the audison to a new sub. most ppl that add subs have done the whole system tho.

I like the way the rest of the system sounds, so I think it wouldn't be necessary

its most likely a 6.5" sub in the rear seat shelf.
there is no way to boost performance from the unit other than to turn the bass up from the HU.
if you want more bass, you would need to purchase that audison unit and install a new sub. the only reason why im saying that most ppl do their whole system is because it is already tedious just to add a sub so might as well do the whole thing.
at least thats how i saw it. the audison thing shouldnt be too challenging.

I changed the HU with Pioneer Z110BT and I cannot utilize the stock sub so no sub for me. But the pioneer can empower all my speakers to another level so I don't need a sub right now. It really make it so loud just from the HU setting

i have a 12" subwoofer in the trunk...really eats up all the trunk space...but the noise dampening in our cars is so good...that its not as loud as when the subwoofer was in my last car... with just one 12" it really makes all my music sound so much better! i blew out my infinity speaker...running an alpine subwoofer now...
so u guys were able to get better sound improvement with just a new HU?
i am thinkin about just adding an amplifier to my stock harmon kardon speakers (which really aren't that good 320 watts my ***)...wonder if that will make music better...the ipod connector really dampens the volume.

anyways. i was wondering if that was possible. adding an amp to your current speakers? i dont know if the hk speakers are 4ohm. my bose were 2ohm stable so i just opted to upgrade speakers anyways.
