A solution to this problem has been posted as a DIY-guide here: https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...ts-repair.html

I just painted mine black to match the interior trim. I used Testers flat black paint (for model car tires). It looks better than chipped chrome, but not as good as when new. I did the same for the trim ring around my cupholder.
I've use that "chrome" spray paint before and it does not do looks a as good as the real thing, especially when close to other true chrome surfaces. I've investigated home DIY chroming and found a few options for under $200. It seems you have to paint it with copper, then nickel, then you can do the electroplate. I've also found a few other high-end chrome spray paints that claim "revolutionary technology", but reviews are not good.
One thing to note - other models, including the W203 C-Class, use the same chrome strip. A cheap solution might be to buy a set of used vents (I've seen them for $10 on eBay) and scavenge the trim.
