has anyone tinted their windows
i want to tint my windows (so. florida), however im having trouble deciding on how much to tint, and even more troublesome is deciding on color. the paint is pewter. the windows already have a slight blue tint to them....should i just stay with the same color though darker, or go with a reflective tint? i have not seen any 209's with tint applied, which makes it difficult to visualize. can anyone share their experiences, and the basis of their selection?
thanks,

I attached a picture below. I put 35% tint on my CLK 500. Because of the charcoal/black leather, the tint seems to be darker (Looks as if it's nearly 20%). If you have a lighter color leather, I would suggest to apply a darker tint (depends on your personal preference though).
One word of caution is also with the actual installation of the tint...In the W209 and other mercedes models, make sure that to install the tint, they don't take apart the door jams, etc. It's nearly impossible to do so on the rear windows as they roll down all the way. The tinter might tell you that the tint may scratch due to the rubber sealing in the window jams. Don't worry...I've had my tint on since December and have had no scratches. Just let the tint dry for at least 2 days without rolling the windows down.
Good luck. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Tint impact on radio reception
Has the tint impacted the radio reception at all? I have a BMW 540 and after tinting the windows the radio reception, especially AM is horrible. I had heard it was the metallic content in the tint. What has been your experience. I too have the same color combo as you except in the E500, and think what you have done looks great.

re: legal tint in CA
-There is no legal amount of tint in CA on the driver's side windows. On the passenger windows you are allowed to tint at any percentage. It used to be a fix-it-ticket, but now it's a $70 fine.
re: radio reception
-I have noticed no decline in the AM/FM radio bands. I couldn't really give you the best advice b/c I listen to XM most of the time.

my dad has a 745. When he tinted it his radio reception on Am went horrible. He couldn't he a thing, it was all static. They told him it was because they antenna was integrated into the back windshield or whatever they call it.

i had my clk tinted with medium shade all around(except the windshield)...the window-tinting guy told me it's the fully metalized film weaken all kinds of signals either come in or go out of the car, so i picked the hydrid film...it looks great, i will post some pic if i have time...since the car doesn't have the b-bar i think same shade all around will be the best
