Though I did just notice that my wife's 2007 E350 has 'em, and I don't like when she has stuff I don't.

I'm kinda surprised there isn't a CL-style tail lamp available:

I didn't have to bend anything on mine, must have an '06 lifted body. As soon as you put the new tail on you will see a small metal tab that needs to be bent out of the way.
Check this thread out. Wes has posted a pic what part you should bend back.

Hi, I wanted to update this thread as I just got the LED taillights from Fishcake123 on Ebay.
I have a 2005 CLK500 that I tried using LED bulbs. Amazing how those ads always say "Canbus error free" and they end up flashing like Christmas tree lights.
Anyhow, I ordered the fishcake set and got it Dec 2015. The ad says it needs the bulb sockets. That is balogney. I also didn't have to bend the metal tab everyone mentions. The LED tailight uses plugs and boxes with resistors so there is literally no way to use the bulb socket in any way.
Waste of time and money.
Possible that my car has later panels that didn't need the "bend" but I don't see how anyone could use the socket holder the way the thing is constructed.
Here is ad I bought from:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/171980011704
The ad says you need bulb socket thing, you don't. In fact, I will soon have pre-facelift taillights and socket holder for sale, car has 23K and spent whole life in a garage, no fading or cracking. I will either have to return the post facelift bulb sockets or sell them.
I am in LA if anyone needs these pieces.
(Mods, I have no connection to Fishcake, never met him, etc)

Hi, please note that most of this thread is 3-4 years ago, these guys may not have the cars or post here anymore.
I finished my install yesterday.
Look good so far.
ANyone in SoCal need some OEM 2005 tailights and bulb panels?

Haha.. good point! I didn't realized that the post was back in 2012. I'm in much need of changing the tail light too. I wondered if the full smoke tail light will suit my car body paint? My clk is iridium silver

"gunzofnavarrone" posted pics of his led tails on a silver 550.... They convinced me to swap mine to led.

The clear smoke tail lights look good on a silver car, I agreed. But then, do you have to upgrade your headlights too? to a smoked and angel eye style light to match it?

I left mine stock. I may replace them with smoked ones sometime in the future but they look fine as is..... to me.
