Sirius - No SAT and acquiring. Help!

Ok I searched the forums and seen others with the same issue but no fix so far.

Here's what I know about my 07 CLK 550. I've setup an account with Sirius and they sent the activation signal. I see "acquiring" on the radio and "no sat" on the instrument cluster. Sirius verified that my ESN on my radio is valid. I've located my SDAR; in the trunk, passenger side next to the taillight. If I unplug it, the radio goes back to FM within 30 seconds. So it should have power, right. Also, it sounds like an internal cooling fan is running in the SDAR.

Sorry my iPhone cutoff my post. The sound system fuse is good. The sat fuse is good as well.

In another post, someone mentioned that the dealer fixed his by replacing a defective "satellite control module". What is that exactly?

Does anyone have any other ideas that I can try?

Issue resolved! I contacted Sirius again and had them check my account. I selected the "mostly music" plan and apparently that doesn't work with our factory radios. The first 2 Sirius reps missed this detail. I go switched to the Sirius everything plan an it's now working!

Unhappy No Satisfaction

I am experiencing the same problem as noted here (periodic to frequent "acquiring signal" interruptions on certain Sirus channels). The dealer gave me the same Sirius/XM merger story -and said that a recent service bulletin said they are working on the problem, and for them to not replace anything. I have owned this pre-owned vehicle for about 3 weeks - and it has a year/23,000 miles of warranty left. I am extremely dissatisfied with this response. I have a call in to Mercedes Customer Service, and am waiting for a call back. I can't believe that Mercedes would let this problem go on so many vehicles -as a previous Lexus and current Acura owner, I am beginning to regret my purchase already.

No, because of response to seemingly simple service corrections. The response appears to be "we'll get back to you" when it also appears that this is a known problem that has persiseted for some time.

I sure hope that's the issue with my SL65. I went to renew it with the "mostly music" plan and have spent a lot of time on the phone with the Sirius reps. I'll bring that up in today's phone call.

Fellow owners and forum members....I'm here/writing as a new member and new MB owner who is having problems activating my Sirius radio in my (wife's) 2008 CLS550 which we purchased as a CPO vehicle late last week;

a) the problem: once I call Sirius and request activation signal to be sent there is no response from the radio (remains on the default screen which states "no subscription" call 1-800-XXX-SIRI followed by my ESN no. which is displayed on the screen).

b) when I turn my audio system on and select SAT, the above screen is the default with the Sirius Preview channel audio playing - trying to select "SERV" does nothing. This is an indication that the antenna is functioning and that the radio is recieving some for of signal...

c) we have tried to activate multiple times (with Sirius, in open -sky area, with blue-tooth phone turned off)

d) the car does have a bluetooth adapter installed in the glove box / center console

e) Mercedes Benz dealer (via telephone) confirmed that the service (Sirius) was activated at one time by the previous vehicle owner (another example that the problem is on the "sirius" end....

f) Sirius is telling me the problem is with the car (master audio/command system tuner) and that I need to return to my dealer (200 miles away) to have the service techs reset the onboard master tuner modiule - which both MB service and I believe is not necessary

g) of course when I call Sirius (as I have more than a 1/2 dozen times) including their product tech support group they 1) validate that my ESN no. is correct 2) resend activation signals to the radio, 3) run out of options to get the sys working and tell me to go to my dealer (even though they agree the car is getting a signal from the sudio

e) I cannot select a channel other that the default which plays when I turn the audion sys to sat mode....I also believe this is the "weather/preview" sirius channel otherwise referred to as channel 184

f) I am at my "wits end" on trying to get this sat working...and thought Id poll other members to see if anyone else has had (and resolved) this iissue

g) I a uncertain if the blue tooth adapter could be affecting my activation (but am told by both MB and sirius that it should not as long as the phone is off and not in use.

Please helpif you can...and copy me at rewillia@msn.com so i get a faster indication of your response should you have an idea on this one...

Rewilla,

Make sure that your Sirius plan is the regular 12.95 plan. Don't get the mostly music or other plans. Just get the Sirius everything plan. Even though their website said that my factory radio was compatible, it wasn't. The 1st 2 Sirius reps said that the mostly music should work but it didn't. The last rep said right away that I needed the everything plan. She sent the signal and it worked with 60 seconds. Who knows, maybe now that I'm activated, I might be able to switch plans. Maybe the activation signal can't be sent with any plan other than the Everything plan. I hope this helps...

Same problems - fixes aren't working

Purchased a used 2008 CLS 550 and have been to dealer twice and on phone with Sirius at least a dozen times, however, still cannot acquire signal.

Went through the hard resets...downgrading Sirius package, upgrading package, dealer checking antenna wiring....still nada.

Other than replacing the radio ($1000) any suggestions? I hate having this beautiful car and having something not work.

simply fix yet not well known. downgrade your Sirius subscription to the basic pkg (not the premier) and it will work, accept the signal and activate. the 2008 CLS 550 command system does not accept the premium Sirius pkg. I learned this on my CLS550 (2008) when dealing with the same issues that included dealer changing modules, etc before either of us figured out what it was...only after speaking with a senior Sirius tech did we both learn the system only accepts the basic pkg (go figure huh), but in any case that was the fix and its worked since !!!

Even with the wrong package, shouldn't the Sirius tuner be able to get the "preview" channel (#184)? If you can't get the preview channel, the it seems to me you have a hardware problem.

I just had my radio activated. It took over 20 minutes. The CSR at SiriusXM had to send the activation signal four times before the radio finally came up. What a pain. I don't know what plan they ended up using since it is the three month free trial for buying a used car with sat radio. The CLK took alot more time than my Ford Escape.

Sirius not working

Bought the car 3 months ago. 2008 E63 with P30.

The dealer gave me 3 free months of Sirius.

At first I was getting the message to call to activate service. I tried that multiple times to no avail.

Brought to dealer. $250 diagnostic and I was told to replace the Sirius module: part 2118706790 at a cost of $840. I found a used one online for $99. Dealer installed it for $300.

Now it is stuck on acquiring signal. I tried to reactive many times. Also dropped plan to the standard plan so not to go over 140 channels.

So after $650 I still don't have Sirius.

Any ideas?

Also the Ipod connection is really low and the AUX doesn't work at all.

With the iPod interface installed, the AUX jack will not work. The iPod interface electronically "replaces" the AUX jack. And yes, low volume on the iPod interface is a common complaint. Just turn up the volume on the iPod itself, but it will still be lower than radio and SAT.

As for the Sirius issues, if you can't get the "demo" channel 184 or channel 1, then you won't be able to activate a subscription. I wonder if this is an antenna problem since you have now had two units with the same problem.

Part number

Does anyone know the part number for the Sirius antennae? I replaced the Sirius module but there must be an antennae in the fin on the roof.

Try this....turn off your radio....turn off the ignition...open the driver's side door( ???) go to the fuse panel in the truck on the driver's side and pull the 7.5 amp fuse for "satellite radio". It works!!! I was at the MB dealer and the service advisors wanted me to bring my car to have the radio replaced...I didnt schedule because I was going out of town but a mechanic who was standing in the service dept caught me in the way out and told me to go home and try it...and not to tell the service guys...it worked! Call to Sirius and MB Service advisors should have known but both either pointed fingers or were totally ignorant..thank god for an honest mechanic

what part of pulling the fuse out worked? Did you replace it, did you leave it out, did you pull it out and put it back in? I am having this issue. Was working fine and then stopped working. Activation signals are doing nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

I pulled out the fuse for "Satellite Radio" not the "radio" then just put it back in. I'm not sure what the door open had to do with anything but the folks at Sirius seems to feel it helps at the same time. For that little effort, and it got my radio working...why not. No problems since.

[B]jwk700[B]: in your June 1 post above, you say "... go to the fuse panel in the truck on the driver's side and pull the 7.5 amp fuse for "satellite radio"."

I take it you are referring to a fuse panel in the little box in the well behind the driver's seat. Mine has a CD changer magazine in that box. Do I have to get the magazine out to get to a fuse panel? I'm having sudden XM Sirius problems that I haven't had before ... the station presets don't work. I appreciate any suggestions you may have.

It's the fuse panel in the trunk on the drivers side. It's hidden behind a black cardboard panel...at least it is on my 2007 CLK
