one last time...cls 55 19" amgs on clk500

I've searched plenty with mixed advice and no definite answer.

Facts: Cls55 wheels are 19x8.5 et25 front and 255/35R19, 19x9.5 et28 285/30R19 rear.

Will these offsets work if the tires are replaced? and what size tires?

I don't want to fender roll and I understand that it is an aggressive offset. Will it stick out too much in the front and rear?

Looking to upgrade my wheels instead of looking for another car. Also looking to drop the car using H&R springs. Do I need to change the stock shocks too?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The offsets will work, but the tires won't. I am currently running the same size wheels but with ET35/10mm spacers all around so they are ET25. Nice and flush. I have 235/35/19 front and 265/30/19 rear, lowered on coilovers and rub a bit on the plastic front fender liner in tight turns. Next time around I might go with 225 in front. No need for rolling fenders. Depending on how many miles you have, it would probably be better to change the shock/struts also.

Wes,

This is just a question if you take out your spacer (10mm) will that wheels that you have right now still works on the car (w/out touching your caliper) ? You installed that spacer in is that just because you want the flush looks or any other reason ?

Edit: Correct me if im wrong I would say for any wheels with the offset from 25 to 35 will work on our cars (w/AMG calipers of course) ? Yes , I know it will depends on tire sizes too.

Andy

The wheels ET35 did fit on my car with no problems. When I upgraded to the BBK I had to install the spacers because they were hitting the calipers. I probably could of went with 8mm but then they wouldn't have the hubcentric lip.

do you think 235 in the front is better or 225? I don't want to seem like i'm riding on blades and the rims look strange when there isn't enough width. Should i stick with 235?

235's are definitely more comfortable. I can live with the rubbing, it's not that bad. It's only on tight turns it scrapes a bit of the front fender liner. I should be getting my car back in a couple days and could take some pics of where it rubs if you want.

You might need different bolts as well.

It will work but you definitely need different (longer) bolts and of course different tires.
