There is a tranny filter Ahmad, it's a messy job. Draining and flushing are two different jobs, you'll need to go to a shop with a proper flush set up to do it right.

If you drop the pan you can get about 70% of the fluid out and change the filter. A proper flush replaces 100% of the fluid and filter. Lot's of indie shops can do it, just call around.

As for the fluid and quantities, check Wes's parts thread (sticky'd), I seem to remember the info is in there somewhere.

Just had the fluid replaced (drained) and new filter installed at 85k miles. In my checking with dealer service advisors, trans service is not on the original 209 maintenance schedule - but now they recommend every 40k for drain/refill.

This was the first time the trans in my car was serviced, and the mech who did it said that the fluid was dirty, but fine for a car of its age and miles. There's also apparently a lock tab that comes on the trans from the factory, so if yours is still intact, you will know that the trans has never been open.

For those considering a trans service, I would say it is worthwhile - I have noticed a difference, in the form of smoother shifts, slightly faster response and probably the tiniest bit more quiet.

So far, so good, and worth the $250 to extend the life of a very expensive transmission!

Ahmad - I don't know about the amount of fluid, as the shop did it for me. Maybe take a look in your manual and see if the specs are there. I'd agree with Kevin, that it is going to be a messy job for the home mechanic.

Also, I should point out that they also replaced a leaking seal/plug on the trans that was leaking. They just did it for me, as it was a $12 part - and interestingly, a 2004 C240 sedan that I had had the same leak and plug replaced under warranty.

~ Bill

PS - Amhad, just saw a TV show about Lebanon (Anthony Bourdain, No Reservations) and it looks like a beautiful place! Cheers.
