Fix existing iPod interface in 2008 CLK550 cab
Hi everyone,
On the weekend I purchased a second hand 2008 CLK550 cab. It includes Nav, P1, P2, and most other options. I've searched extensively and think I have my phone (iPhone 4) issues solved (I've spoken to cellguy and know it's pre-wired for a phone and am adding bluetooth to use my iPhone 4 - he is great!)
What I'm having trouble with is:
1. The volume of music from the iPhone (being used as an iPod) when connected to the iPod connector in the glovebox is much lower than other sources (SAT, radio, CD, etc...). Is this something that should be fixed under warranty? Assuming not, I was wondering if this was the right solution:
Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes iPod solutions :: Mercedes iPod line amplifier
Does anyone have experience fixing this issue? Is this part the right solution?
2. The existing (white) iPod interface in the glovebox does not charge my iPhone 4. Once again assuming this will not be fixed under warranty, how do I fix this? Is this the right solution:
Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes iPod solutions :: Mercedes New iPod charging lead for A/B/C/CLK/GL/ML/R/CL/S/E/CLS/SLK
Any help greatly appreciated!

the ipod cord degrades the volume of the ipod...they do sell in line amplifiers...my friend tried it and said the music was louder...but more distorted...you may want to just get an amp for ur speakers
also only certain ipod/iphone models can charge with the ipod cord
my old school ipod could charge....but when i bought one of the new ipods it wouldn't charge
and theres no way around any of this...and none of the complaints u are having are from warranty defects....its just the way it is =((((

Well that's not going to work for me.
So far I've established there is a known issue in the head unit that fixes the iPod volume - LI82.85-P-047991, "Audio AUX: **Volume in AUX menu is too quiet."
I'll let the rest of you know how I go fixing these issues, because if I can't it's back to the S4 Cab

Ipod volume
I have the same car with the same options as you but have no problem with the Ipod volume! Go figure! Would the volume set on the Ipod prior to hook up to the Ipod connector in your car make a difference?!!

Thanks MCS. As I now understand it, the volume issue is fixed by a head unit firmware upgrade, which is covered under warranty. Mine is going in for that, a tear in the soft top, loud squeaking noises from the soft top when going over bumps, and some other minor stuff on Tuesday.
Will keep you all posted.

I know this is an older post, but I am curious if the OP got the volume issue resolved. I also just purchased an 08 CLK550 Cab and have the same volume problem with my Ipod.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Since I've added bluetooth and moved the iPod interface to a center cradle and everything works perfectly!

Hey icngacsn, I have simialr issues with my 2008 clk 350 (specifically iphone 3gs wont charge and squeking noise from the soft top when going over bumps) but when i took it to my dealer they said the ipod kit is not covered under warranty and the roof has to be lubricated by some grease but is not covered under warranty since its due to wear and tear like brake pads.
I was wondering what you said to your dealer that they were willing to do fix your issues under warranty ?
thanks
