Have you considered getting the projector fog lights?

They are awesome! Much better than the OEM fogs. I have a 6000k HID kit installed in mine. The beam pattern is excellent. I think they are worth the money. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Merce...Q5fAccessories

Here are some pics. In a few I have one fog light out, but you could get the idea.

Interesting about the output with the projector fogs. I find the halogen housing to have a much more linear line, though the light output is less.

BTW did you end up buying Advans headlights yet?

For bi-xenon conversion, aside getting the headlight itself, what other wiring harness should I get?

Good to know. I just received my 55W 6K with the error box from DDM. I'm about to order the 35W from DDM for my other vehicles.

Question,

I just got bi-xenon's for my clk320... which has the halogen stock headlights. Will the highbeams on the projector work? IE: will the cutoff shield open up for those that have went halogen to factory xenon? Or will only the high beams come on while the projector stays as is? OR does both the separate high beam and cut off shield open?

Can't seem to find an answer anywhere...

EDIT:

Figured out that the bi-xenon DOES in fact lower it's shields when the high beam is activated ALONG with the separate high beam on the inside!
w00t w00t!

Thanks,
-Nigel

Hi guys,

I have the OEM lights on my 2003 CLK, was thinking of changing the lights to bi xenon or a nice HID unit. Any suggestions of what should I search for? As far as I understand you can retrofit HID's but you need the lens. Are there OEM CLK HID lights? Or only the halogen on the earlyer models and xenon on the facelift?

HID/Xenon lights were an option for all model years of the W209, so you can certainly find OEM units. You do need to replace the entire headlight assembly to switch from halogen toe HID. The base "reflector" housing of your halogen lights will create a poor beam pattern for the HIDs that will blind other drivers. There are also aftermarket solutions, all of which will use a "projector" style lens. Aftermarket systems can use either halogen bulbs or HID "kits". Note that with OEM HIDs, you will need the car's electronics coded or else they won't work (they will flash and give you bulb errors). Aftermarket kits usually include "error canceling circuitry" so they are plug and play.

I put these on my car:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/DEPO-MERCEDES-BENZ-CLK-W209-2003-2009-CLEAR-CHROME-QUAD-PROJECTOR-HEADLIGHTS-/221259653036?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item33841a5fac&vxp=mtr
They are nice, but not quite up to OEM quality.

Rudeney, I'm sure you have heard this before but you're the MAN
I didn't know that both HID and Xenon units were available for the whole w209 production run. I have few salvage yards close to me, I might just go there one of these days and see if I could find something nice for a good price since I have the factory Halogen headlights. On other threads I have read about these "Depo" headlights and they do look pretty nice. Is there a factory double projector headlight unit like the "SLR" type or is this just an aftermarket option?

No factory option for the quad projectors - just the aftermarket setup.

Amazon.com: Philips H7 12972XVS2 X-Treme Vision Replacement Bulb, (Pack of 2): Automotive Amazon.com: Philips H7 12972XVS2 X-Treme Vision Replacement Bulb, (Pack of 2): Automotive

I used an HID kit. With the high beams on, I have all four projectors with very bright Xenon light that really gives some incredible illumination:

https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...ad-xenons.html

The downside is that it takes a few seconds for the high beams to warm up to full brightness, so the "flash to pass" feature is not very "aggressive". However, once they are warmed up, quickly flashing the high beams on and produces a crazy strobe effect that is impossible for the slow moving car ahead in the fast lane to ignore.

Wow that looks amazing! Unfortunately I could not purchase the quad projectors headlights as they were out of stock and I needed a pair of headlights immediately =( so I ended up up getting the clk63 style bixenons otherwise I was gonna add an HID kit like you on the high beams in addition to changing the city light

Personally, I'd prefer the bixenons, but I got such a deal on the quads, I could not refuse.

I'm sure any doubts I have will go away when they are installed!

Did you purchase yours from the fishcake group buy? I'm going through USR right now for my bixenons
