haha great some of them are still being cocky on the M5 forums, but few says we can only hang with them but not beat. This again shows that clk550 is an under rated car and is a sleeper.

bu how many cars you beat him ?

I don't doubt the wins in those kind od raes but I wouldn't consider it a real win until the races is from 0-125 or 0-top speed? Take the current M5 and M6 for example, both always lost to the E55 from 0-125 but after the 125mph, both M5 and M6 pulled and past the E55 to top speed.

i still highly doubt E39 can pull on a clk550 which is lighter with equal power and more gears.

Yeah, I agreed. I was just saying in general that racing from 60-100, 40-100...etc does really tell the whole story.

clk is definitely a sleeper.many other drivers don't know the full potential of this car.it's very overlooked.I've surprised many people on the highway.

hey, a race is a race.first off, racing from a dig only shows off the potential of the driver IMO.if you want to do car vs. car you gotta go from a roll.like i said before,i raced an e39 m5 while he was drafting behind me and he couldn't pass me.i could only imagine the clk550.

Well, back in 2000 the clk55 were the cars in term of AMG badges on the trunk. Everyone knew about the performances in them. Mercedes killed it in 2003 when they went with SC and left the Clk models out.

Klinh, I have to agree with you here. To me, a true street race is from a dig, ala 1/4 mile, point to point (when the green light pops the BS stops...). 'Races' from a specified speed to another specified speed only highlight what the car can do within a specific range, it doesn't tell the whole story.

In fact, if you really want to tell the 'whole truth and nothing but the truth' a car would be tested in all ranges - power, handling and braking. Take the car on some time trials at a roadcourse track and compare them to others, everything about the car is put to the test there.

My $0.02

The 500 can do 160 with limiter removed?

Yup, that's why I love TOP GEARS, same track, same driver and they even do comparision 0-60, 1/4 and top speed. Btw, what's up with the new US version TOP GEARS? It just not the same as the as the orignal one.

Yes, great show and very informative. I haven't seen the US show, just the one from the UK is shown in Dubai.

I should mention that I'm not trying to take anything away from the OP's win with my above remarks, a win is a win and good on him! I just see racing a little differently after being involved in all types of racing for a while - maybe I'm just getting old
