2006 Facelift CLK500 Cab-
Akebonos came in!! I'm going to leave the factory wheels on for a road trip up to tennessee but when I get back it's satin black wheel time. In or around dec 28-29 I'll have some new pics.
Side note-picked up a 230 amp welder with stinger and leads for $30 on craigslist today. aaaand it works, awesome.

One more question, should I paint the calipers at all or leave them grey? I'm thinking with the black wheels it will leave a little contrast with the silver car if I don't paint them.

Take a look at the thread I just posted...I literally just did everything you said...

black wheels, red calipers painted, and akebonos installed...

Let me know if you have any questions...

and yes...paint the calipers...

Nice Jeep James, I didn't see those pics before. The wheels came out great! You did some awesome work there man. I really like the look of the car, and the grille goes great with the wheels. It all matches the roof nicely. Time for some black center caps though.

Thanks guys! Yea, I got that jeep for really cheap 2 years ago but it was a pile, so whenever I get bored/free time I'm always doing stuff to it. It's perfect for the beach season down here, I drive up and down the beach whenever I'm out that way and pull out people that are stuck with it. I'm starting to agree fully on the black center caps/possibly lug bolts also. I might just make a stencil that is the same diameter as the center of the wheels and spray the whole middle with the same paint.

I am definitely liking those wheels. Any plans for changing the caliper color? It would be a nice contrast.

Honestly, I am thinking about painting them Gloss black with a pewter color matched MB logo on top of the paint, or vice versa (pewter w/ black logo). I just think with the black grill/wheels/top along with the silver car red might be a little too much contrast. If I had a hard top I think the red could be pulled off.

Black caliper behind an all black wheel wouldn't do it justice I feel...although color matched could look potentially awesome...

I just think calipers should pop and be a detail that stands out...

WOW. A TV in the GARAGE !!!

I read that you had halogen headlights originally and updated to OEM xenons. You must have changed the bumper? because it has the washers. Were the washers easy to install?

TV- I realized that I spend more time in my shop out back than in my living room so I tapped into our direct tv and dug a 200 ft ditch out there and picked the tv up at best buy and VOILA haha.

Naa, that's actually the factory bumper, no washers. The lights weren't too hard, you do have to disconnect (but not totally take off) the bumper to install them. The hardest part was getting the little alignment plate back on the seams of the bumper.

Angelo, I'm leaning towards the color matched silver w/ satin black MB logo also. You're right about the black, you wouldn't even be able to see it back there.

that could look really good...almost any color behind the black wheel will look great as long as it is a logical color...lol...

Also, why don't you get your windows tinted?...it does wonders for the look of the car...

James, color matched would be nice but don't count out red. I didn't want to go red either until I saw it on the car. Now I'm happy I went with it. Whatever you do, don't go black. I made that mistake and they blended in too much.
