eibach and alignment

Well I had my eibach pro kit springs installed today. I asked for install and alignment. When all was done I notice on the invoice that the alignment wasn't done. The service rep said I didn't need one. Stated that on rare occasions everything falls in, or something to the sort. I don't even recall them even placing the car on the alignment rack. Does this sound right? Should I take it somewhere and have the alignment checked? I haven't installed the 19 in wheels yet because it snowed her yesterday. As soon as the weather clears I'll post some pics. Can't wait to see the results.

I just installed 19's, eibachs, and I had to get an alignment...I saw my print outs and stuff and it was necessary for my steering...might just be mine though...

Let's see the pics after...

Did you guys goto the stealership for your alignment? How much do indy shops charge? I remember paying $300 for mine back in the day. Felt like a rip off.

When it come to alignment, you're just wasting your money if you don't take your car to the dealer. Without the alignment screws, you can't adjust cambers. So the only thing those shop can do is adjust toe in/out but they'll charges you for a full price.

not necessarily true... A quality shop can do as good if not better than the dealer. Camber bolt can be added and many shops have superior equipment for alignment and balancing... heck my local dealer sends cars to the shop I use for custom align and balances on modified cars. My local MB dealer is a really into enthusiasts... they do Kleeman tuning, Brabus Smarts etc, but when it comes to Wheels and tires they seem to send it out to the experts.... I guess it all depends on your market.

My statement are more based on the shop that don't carry Mercedes screws alignment and almost all of them don't even know about the Mercedes alignment screws. Once the screws alignment is installed, then any shop an do as good as the dealer. I have never ever heard of anyone that ever got an alignment out side ever being charges for the screws alignment. Btw, screws alignment should only be install during an alignment services. You do not want to install it then get an alignment later. Unless you're luck enough to get the screws adjustment right when install without the assistant of the alignment machine, your ABS, BAS, ESP...etc. light will appear on your dash and cause the brake system confused and not work right.

Hey Klinh,

i am getting my winter tires on tomorrow and this is the first time i hear about the alignment screws!

So the place where the alignment is done should have this screws or else its not gonna be a good one?

Can you buy this screws yourself and give it to the shop? Would the alignment than be good?

Im just kinda lost here never heard about this before

thanks

WOW, you guys really know your stuff, I also never heard of a screw. I guess I'll wait until I mount the wheels and put about 300 miles on the springs. Guess it's time for a nice long drive. thanks again. I will post pics

You only need the screws if you have camber problems in the front. Without the screws, there's no way they can do cambers adjustment. Yes, you can buy the srews and have the shop install. I think it about $25 ea. And screws are only use for the front not the rear. I'm not sure why you guys even need an alignment. I lowered my car and my alignment seem to be good because I don't have uneven tired wear front and rear. My car does not pulled from side to side. Don't just let shop telling you, you need an alignment. It all about $$$ for them. Only do if you know you have tires wear problems and your car pull to one side of the road.

Wow, Dude! Talk about balding camber. When was the last time you changed your tires? I guess these cars come with some negative camber from factory.

How many miles have you put on them? You will have to get a camber kit. (Kmac).
