Clk 500 Intake
Does anyone know a nice K&N cold air intake that will fit in a V8 clk 500? trying to spend around $200-$250 for each one so total around $400-500. Please dont say renttech too much money lol =P just a college student lol. So yeah something that will make this v8 roar and get some HP out of it too. thanks

There really is no "cold air" intakes for these cars. Most intakes end up sucking in hot air. You could change you air filters to K&N but some people have had problems with them being too oily and messing up the MAF. Of course some people have had nothing but good experiences with them. You could also go with BMC or Green Filters. If you want to get a little more roar, delete you 2nd cats/resonator and you will be satisfied.

Hey yeah just signed up but been watching and reading for over a year now lol =P and idk i did search Clk 500 Intake but couldnt find anything specific. Like a model name or some information on K&N intakes. I found some clk320 stuff but idk if that information is good for me as i have a different engine layout then a 320. Also found a thread about clk500 and all it said was to go for renttech, i'm trying to get a cheap alternative maybe k&n or something you guys could suggest for me? thanks for the reply jbenz

yeah already instaled the 2 k&n filters they been working great been about 5months now. and the resonators coming off any day. but was just wondering if i should get an intake? so dynomite your saying to just replace my filters and leave it at that? because if i get an intake it will just suck hot air in? even with a long cold air one? so i'm guessing a short ram is out of the question
thanks guys appreciate all the input.

yup, I have the E55 AMG intake with K&N filters.
it has lowered my intake temps by around 40 degrees in the summer.

+1. The E55K airbox with a high flow filter is by far the best alternative for helping the engine breathe a little better. And besides, the setup you have is already a fresh air intake, pulling in air from just behind the grille. Keep in mind though that the E55K AMG intake and CLK55 AMG are two different animals, the CLK55 is exactly the same as a stock 500 intake but painted silver...

A guy in Dubai with a C55 had his stock box for sale (he went with a Kleemann sc and an aftermarket air intake), I went to look at it and pulled my stock box off to compare. I absolutely didn't see any difference but I'm sure there is if you say so. And no, I didn't buy it because it (to me) wasn't an upgrade. Besides, later that night I found out that I won the E55Kairbox you and I were both bidding on.
