replacing brake pads

ok i am only replacing front and rear brake pads and not the rotors. i've been told if i go with aftermarket pads, it will squeak like crazy. i am running stock oem rotors. is this true? so should i stick with oem or can i go with akebono or some other ceramic pads instead? i do not want them to squeak like a pig but some good pads with low brake dust is what i am after...

I switched my oem brake pads to akebono in the fronts and rears too because of the brake dust and the heavy squeaking that was going on...the akebonos have been great!...no squeaking and much less dust on the wheels...just make sure to use anti-squeak paste also when installing...

A lot of members on here are using akebono...

I have been using them for a while and they are great. I wish they made them for my Brembo BBK!

One tiny addition, they don't seem to "grab" as well as the factory ones, but ceramic usually won't when compared to a metallic composite. It's not a big difference at all, and they might still be getting worn in.

Using Brembo discs w/ EBC Red Stuff pads w/ no brake paste = no dust, no squeal and great bite w/ no fade on 5 hard stops from 80mph. Also using SS brake lines. Make sure to follow pads' bed in procedure.

I use wagner thermoquiet pads, they've been really good to me. Less brake dust in the front compared to OEM.

I have never changed brake pads before and this was easy...only things you need to know are how to jack up your car and how to compress a piston...

Let me know if you need tips...

Akebono all the way, i have them on my CLK55, love them. On my E320, i had to go with Ferodo Premier, cause akebono's are only made for US market, where the front caliper is made by bosch, but here in europe we have brembo's. I am pretty satisfied with the Ferodo also, great stopping power with brembo rotors and less dust comparing to stock.
