Container is in port!

Got a great email from Dubai today, my container from Canada containing all my stored items and more importantly - my recently purchased CLK parts has just made port

It should be cleared (customs) in a week, then my springs and sways (local order) should be here next week, followed by my BS strut bars sometime there after. I started buying my parts in July right after I bought the car, the modding is finally about to begin!

When all the parts arrive I'm going to put them in a pile and take a pic, a mountain of goodies.

Yeah, delay after delay after delay, almost here. I think the container was originally supposed to ship in late August, it ended up leaving on November 11th. I've got the car in at MB now getting the wheel hub replaced that the tire guys f'ed up, I'll pick it up when I get back to Dubai and get it over to the speedshop that's doing my suspension (I ordered my springs and sways through them too). It can stay there for a while as I'm going to be travelling straight through to February anyways, just the odd weekend at home.

Thanks and yes, don't worry, I'll be calling you when I'm in Beirut next time! I had a good friend spend New Years eve there, I was green with envy... I'll most likely be there for 3 days before heading into Iraq next.

That makes two of us mate. They are in Wes's hands right now awaiting some other parts so he can ship them to me. I still expecting to see him post up pics of them installed on his car "Look what I got!"

By "packed up and ready to go" you do mean, installed on my car and on the way to the auto-x event right?

Nice! I always hated waiting for the container to arrive when shipping things overseas to my other house. It's almost a crabshoot, you never know when it'll officially arrive, lol.

I hear ya. It's usually 6 weeks door to port, customs is a whole 'nuther story though. They can either clear it quick or become very difficult, last time (5 years ago) everything went very smooth, hoping for the same this time.

Kev,

I just spoke to Craig and it looks like he dropped the ball on the lugs. He apologized profusely and said I would have them at my door tomorrow. It's looking like I should be shipping out the box in the next couple of days.

I didn't know you just bought your car. It seem to me that you wanted to turn your car into a track car from day one, why didn't you get the Clk 55? Some 55 are even cheaper then the 500 just depending on mileages. If you test drive both cars, it almost feel like day and night between the 55 and 500 in the performanes department.

I bought it in July I believe, I've had my C class for 4 years.

You are right, the 55 would have been thefar better option for what I want to do, however, finding one in the UAE is next to impossible. In the 5 years I've been here I have only seen 2 of them. The MB dealer told me that they were not brought in as a stock item, they were all brought in on special order and are US spec cars. So, that being said, the 500 was a nice platform to work with (and rare as hell here too by the way) and gives me lot's of things to do, aka, a hobby again after 5 years.

This is the last car I'm buying to play around with and thats the only reason I bought it. I have a plan before my 40th birthday (3 years away), until then, I'm going to really enjoy ripping this thing apart and re-building it

Outstanding Wes, you are a true Gent! Now we know why the items that were local were the last to arrive!
