Project CLK32K
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
You live in jersey right ?...maybe once your done on your car we can meet I would love to see your beast or maybe even a group meet if people are interested!. Good luck once again you did great bro
I am editing this now that I read the whole thread. I did not change the trans or diff when I did my V8. I now have about 15K trouble free miles that have included a bunch of very smokey burnouts. Ther is no strength differnce in a C32 diff and the one you had. the only difference is a 3.07 gear instead of 3.27. The key difference in the trans is that the C32 is the same as a V8 trans which has a stonger cluthch pack. Your stock trans has lower gearing. The lower gearing of your stock trans combined with the stock 3.27 rear gear would have helped your 1/4 mile times. the engine in my car has a bit mor torgue than a 32K engine and like I said no trans problems at all. You can swap your lower stock gear set into the 32 trans and then you wouldn't need to change the rear diff or TCU.
I wasn't sure about what you said about using a 320 ignition vs. the 32? this didn't make sense to me. You must use a SLK32 or C32 ECU. Either will work. There are no wirring changes to the engine harness. just make sure everything is hooked up such as the s/c clutch, i/c pump etc.
You do need to verify the wirring going into the the ECU from the body. You simply match by funtion. You need the ECU pinout from your stock ECU and the C32 ECU. WIS sucks for this. I used pinouts from All Data. If wiring is correct you are good to start adapting the C32 to the car.
to program the car you need The MB Star Diagnostic System. I bought a cloned one from China. It runs on a laptop and my total cost was about $800.00 You also need to raise the system to developer mode. You can get a key Gen from JC Recordings for around $25.00 Developer mode is in every SDS system but most MB mechanics don't know this. It takes a special sign in to activate it. Developer mode is used in the factory to build prototypes and make pre-production changes. It is also only in German.
The first step is unlock the C32 ECU. Beckmann technologies does this for about $250.00 **Once unlocked you have a limited amount of time you can turn the key before it locks again**
Next, Install the stock ECU and print out all the current values. It will give you things like gear ratios, tire sizes etc. You will use these values to program the C32 ECU.
With the unlocked ECU you then have to enter the system by using SLK32 or C32. You cannot specify CLK since your engine never came in a CLK. I used CLK500 to program my car. Prgraming your ECU should be much easier than trying to get the system to accept a Chrysler VIN number as in my case.
check everything such as tire size, gear ratios etc. and make changes if needed to match what you actually have. go to actual values and make sure it is reading your transmission. It should say P for park and change as you move the shifter. If it can't verify park, the car will never start.
The next step is easier for you than for me since your car is an EZS car and you can run EZS to get your donor ECU to learn the anti-theft data. If everything is wirred right, the actuall programming shouldn't take more that a couple of hours by someone who knows the SDS system in developer mode.
Since your car in not running yet, I am sure the issue is with programing. I hope this helps. don't worry or get down as this can be done. You also have the option of getting extra help if needed. RCompart on the Crossfire forum has already put three 55K egines in Crossfires and did the programing for a member here who put a 55K in his CLS500 show car.
