sulfur smell?

Noticed in my new CLK500, while accelerating sharply to 85-95
miles/hour strange sulfur smell that lasts for few seconds.
Any comments?
Thanks Alex

I've got the sulfur smell too, I notice it when I pull into my garage from time to time, it has something to do with the new catalytic converters and should go away after 2-3k miles, I've got about 2400 and it's still there....we'll see.

In rich running conditions (full throttle), hydrogen sulphide is a by-product (rotten egg smell) of the catalytic converter. It should go away when you reach a more steady state (leaner condition). Also is worse on start-up when the engine runs richer (think of the old chokes on carbs from years ago).

I get the smell even after a mellow trip to and from the grocery store, never had this with any other car or from my 99 00 or 01 clk 430's. The guys in the new eclass forum have complained about this too.

See this link for a full explanation...hope it's true.
