Done in 30 min
Hi
I changed the door handle yesterday in approx. 30 min. Very easy, when I had located the screw for the lock. I have pictures of the different steps you need to go through, will post later to night.

Hi phil7733
Anytime
Maybe you can help me? The headrests on both front seats have limited moving range when using the controls on the door. When tilting the seats forward, then headrest moves completly down and up again when the seat is put back into position. So motors ok, the controls seams ok, since there is some movement when used.
This seam to be a common problem, I have searched all (I think) forums, and all I can find is advice to move the seats all the way back and all the way forward to reset the control memory - this does not help anything in my case.
What to do?

What I can tell U is,
when I ve bought the car the headrests worked when it wanted, sort of ramdom working. So I decided to dismantled the complete system behing the seat, and found a toothed rack, the one moving the headrests, but some tooth were missing, so U can understand that the motor was still running for nothing, so sometime it could grip on the broken tooth, some time not. So I remade the missing thooth with molding plastic paste.
It works find since then was 2 year ago. I didn't take any pictures but it was easy to find out.
hope that help, let me know

I will have a check this weekend. But somehow I don't think this is the problem in my case, since the headrests move completly up and down when tilting the seats in order to get into the back.

can anybody give me hte part number? this is what parts.com said when i asked them i want just the exterior door handle:
part is considered by Mercedes-Benz to be what is called a Theft Relevant Part and is blocked for sale on the internet. Purchasing this part is much like purchasing a key. You must go to a local dealership , prove identity and ownership and have the lock physically handed to you by that parts department. The sensor is part of the door lock tumbler assembly and the part number is 203-766-23-77.
