Very brief hijack (sorry Carlos), Sleepy, out of curiosity who have you found that offers a SC system for the 550?

Ha, Ha! Thanks Sleepy!

Wes, Beztera, and Kev are the real W209 heroes. I'm following Kev and Beztera's builds for their engine and track mods (I'm currently deciding on what cams to get {PTE/New Kleemanns}); and following Wes's build to see how much HP his one of a kind CLK32 ///AMG is putting down.

So, I was at the SoCalEuro show and I didn't see your car. :/

I wish I would have! I want to get this done so bad now, ever since I raced my buddy in his LS1 swapped 3rd Gen. Camaro.

It was on the same row as the R171 SLK55, R170 SLK320, Black W204 C300, and Black W208 CLK430.

Sorry to bump an older thread, but I was wondering if you happened to have more pictures of the install? I'm going to be installing mine myself next week hopefully and just looking for as much info as I can find.

You doing the instal yourself? I know Carlos has some more pictures of it in DC MotorSports but as it goes for actuall installation pictures, the instructions from Kleemann are excellent and have lots and lots of very detailed pics.

There are a few common pitfalls to watch for that I know of from my experience:

1. Be careful tapping the water pump for the idler pulley. My installer broke my water pump, and then continued the install which threw the idler alignment off which threw belts.

2. Be careful when manipulating and moving vac lines around..... they can break if bent too far, and are costly to replace from stealership.

3. Be careful when working around the gas tank... if you break any of the fuel pump/sender seals on the gas tank for the reg mods..... it's tricky to get the seal right... MB rec using a new o-ring rather than re-using the old one. Mine leaked bad, and had to be replaced.

4. Don't run the car hard until you have it tuned, or if you have the mailed-tune installed, I would have it checked on a local dyno with wideband sensor setup...... before stomping on it to be sure all AFR's are good..... don't to blow a HG, or hurt a piston. These things are not small block fords or chevy's..... and rework is expensive.

The end result will deliver big grins....... I smile everytime I fire this thing up for my 30 mile trip to work. This much fun should not be legal.

My combo is just about 5K miles, no hickups, except a vac line came off the valve cover which threw a l/r bank lean code.... reattached the vac line with zip ties, and no more codes or issues. One small issue..... rear tires are now bald :

Yeah, I've bought a self aligning tap for that so hopefully it'll be right.

Always.

Brandon at Kleemann says that is no longer necessary, but yes replacing the fuel pump module seal is a must no matter what kind of car.

Brandon also says a tune is no longer required and would be a waste of money. He said they no longer use the DC inverter thing to vary voltage to the fuel pump. He did say that more aggressive timing maps could be used if the primary cats are removed. I'll probably have a dyno done anyway and check the AFR just to be safe.

Those are 300 Cell Metallic Random Technology Cats.

I'm dropping off my car tomorrow to get the rest of the stuff installed, I plan on creating a new thread with the results!

Those cams will work great dude, the Kleemann cams previous to the ones I have were a direct spec copy of the E55K ones, you should pick up another 10WHP or so.

Are you deleting the secondaries and tossing the 300's in as primaries?

And no man, mine is no more of a beast that your and a few other guys around this 209 section, just awesome that we can all play with these toys an share the experiences

I don't think I want to bother with the cams on my car, they look like a PITA without any special tools.

Random Technologies is actually local to me, so I was thinking about using their cats anyway! 2.5" diameter, right?

What brand of dyno was your's done on? My car put down 365hp and 399tq on a Dynojet.

Yeah, 2.5" diameter. I'm not sure what dyno Kleemann HQ uses, but I'll make sure to ask Cory next time I contact him!

That must of been a hell of a drive to denver. You going to drive all the way back for the next round of mods or doing them local?
