CLK 500 W209 BAS/ESP ERROR CODE

I have a 2004 CLK500 cabrio that is stored in my garage for the winter. I live in the NE and have a Deltran battery tender connected to the battery. The car is started up every couple of weeks. Today It was 37 degrees so I wanted to take the Benz out for a blast. i started her up no problem, backed her out of the garage and felt the brake pedal almost go to the floor... a few minutes later--BAS Malfunction and ESP Malfunction.... HELP!! Fluids all good no sign of leaks....

Maybe the brakelight switch? If yes, it is really cheap to repair.

Try a reset.

1. Turn on car.
2. Full Lock to Lock on the Steering wheel 5x.
3. Turn off car.

If that doesn't work, then check voltage on battery with car off, and while car is on and compare using a volt-meter.

I have an '04 too, and I can tell you from experience that if you have the original battery in there, it's time for a new one. I was getting strange electrical error codes for the last two years, and now that I have a new battery, no issues and no malfunctions.

Replaced battery last April. I'll measure the battery voltage this weekend.

Oh btw, it might be a malfunctioning alternator aswell...a faulty voltage regulator in the alternator will give same errors.

Got back yesterday disconnected battery tender, measured battery voltage and it was 11.3volts-NG. The battery tender was super hot so I decided to measure the output--11.5volts--NG. Went out last night and bought new Deltran Battery Tender Plus(DBTP)--connected to the battery overnight. Measured battery voltage this afternoon with the DBTP disconnected--12.7volts--OK. Started car no BAS and ESP Malfunction--so far so good, I then backed her out of the garage and the brake pedal went to the floor--no brakes. I checked the brake fluid level and it was good. The Master cyclinder shows no signs of leaks externally. I disconnected the the vacuum hose and had my friend pump the brakes and nothing--no vacuum pressure. It seems like the Master cyclinder is shot.. or there is a vacuum leak in the system.. Has anyone scene this before, can the MC fail internally??

Good hit on the battery! Try to bleed the brakes on all wheels. You prolly have some air in the brake system.

Sorry it took so long to get back to posting but here is the outcome. last weekend I brought the car to my friends shop and we put it on his lift pulled the tires and bled the brakes.... wosh the left front caliper released a heavy sigh... pumped up the brake pedal and all is good. My baby stops again. Good call MLTdude.
