The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I'm certainly not the know all of anything automotive by in taking a long look at my AMS pulley I'd say it was pretty well made - much better than other pulley I have seen from major manufacturers in the past.

if i am not mistaken renntech pulley quality is not the best out there.
If the AMS pulley is installed correctly, checked for torque a few times at regular intervals, I'm pretty confident it's going to be trouble free. I'm going to be driving the living hell out of my 500 on the roadcourse tarcks here and you drive the living snot out of your 550 just pulling out of the driveway to check the mail - I think we'll both be okay with the AMS pulley.

Has there been anything that you haven't had to wait forever for?
Thanks for the heads up Kev, I will chime in there. The AMS pulley is a true 2-piece design as is the stock unit. This is not "unsafe" at all. Almost all OEM harmonic dampers are 2-piece designs and have been for ages. They have improved in quality & strength over and time. You are correct that OEM ones have failed as well (many early M113 pulleys on the C43s and etc had failures as well). With that said none of our M112/M113 pulleys have failed and have been proven bulletproof in reliability as long as they are installed properly and you check the crank bolt torque to ensure its never gets loose. As long as the crank bolt is torqued properly the pulley will last the life of the car (and is backed by AMS lifetime warranty). We've sold hundreds of these pulleys and had no issues whatsoever.
You must remember, many mechanics out there only know what they are taught and many of them will bash any part that is non-OEM just b/c that's what the company they work for has told them. They will argue K&N filters will damage the car, and intakes, headers, exhausts etc etc. OEM mechanics are OEM diehards and they tend to be fear mongers with anything aftermarket, you have to take anything they say with a grain of salt.
Up until recently, the overdrive 55K pulleys that most people have used are just modified stock harmonic dampers which are two piece designs and not of the best quality.
You have nothing to fear as long as the part is installed properly (which is true of any modification). If you install any part wrong, it won't function properly of course.

I wonder what the difference is between the 55AMG cams and the stock M113 500 cams? I bet they are pretty darn similar. If I don't get approval to S/C, we should talk about the cams as that will be the route I reluctantly will have to take.
