I am going to be the first MB owner with mismatched tires
The rears were gone in less than 9 months, and I was very restraint with gas pedal. The fronts are still like new. These tires came with the car, and are Continentals something, old model. They're not particularly good tires, but, as with most OEM tires, cost like $250 a tire and are not worth more than 1/3 of that.
So instead of buying the whole set every time I burn the rears, I decided, screw it, I'll just keep buying cheap rear summers (whatever decent is the cheapest at the moment) and go through them every 4-6 months. This way I won't feel guilty going WOT at almost every intersection.
Right now, Hankooks V12s are on the way...

i'm always mismatched. had vredestein fronts and general exclaims in the rears and they both sucked. exclaims were slipppery even though they were all season and vredesteins had loud road noise. now i have toyo proxes 4 and continental dws and the ride is so much better, quieter and can handle better in rain now...
