Sprint Booster - do you drive in Red or Green?

I find that the best combination is Red in "C" mode. "S" makes it very testy at red lights or parking lots. Green makes it sluggish in upshifts.

Anyone else coming to the same conclusion, that Red in "C" mode is most comfortable and effective?

My SB is the old model, so it's always on and I drive on S.

I note you both have the 5-speed. Mine is a 500 with 7-speed. I also have the engine tune and E55k intake. Maybe that makes a difference.

You get used to the quick pedal. I also have a tune and a few other goodies.

Just the SB for me...a must mod...I still wonder what the tune does in terms of "feel"...

I had mine set on race (red), but changed it to sport (green). Race was a little too much.

Man........the newer version is for poeple that can't decided on the old version between AMG vs Non-AMG and you still can't decide? Why you even need to ask when the new version allow you to choose which ever mode you prefer. I don't have the new version but I did installed the new version for mine friend and we both like it best in "green".

My transmission has S/W no C... Must be different from the U.S models?

I believe it's just the earlier w209's that come with S/W. Still the same concept though.

So the 'S' stands for sport, what does the 'W' stand for?

Nope, S means standard and W means winter.

It's different when you have C and S and some also M. Then C stands for comfort, S for sport and M for manual.

I was under the impression that C-comfort and W-winter were the same setting. M is a different story, just on AMG cars.

In reality, C and W mode both are the same. Both starting out in 2nd gears. In the old 5-speed, you don't get the 1 gear jerk and so they called it "W" for winter driving. With the new 7-speed, 1 gear stop and go is very jerking and so Mercedes renamed it to "C" for comfort. Both mode starting out in 1st gear.

To my understand, "S" stand for SPORT and also according to Mercedes 2006 Clk500 brochure.

I don't use "C" mode at all. However, I never drive my car in inclement weather.

Now to your question, I go back and forth between the green and red modes depending on my mood. I do not find the red mode to be too aggressive. I definitely like the red mode. I've had mine for a little over a month and I'd day I've used the green mode maybe 2/3rds of the time and the red mode the rest of the time. I have occasionally flipped back to stock for a few seconds
and can't believe AMG let's the car out of the factory like that.

You have to ease into the throttle in either mode - at least in an AMG car. Otherwise the traction control kicks in. Once you get the feel for feathering the pedal it's all good.

I LOVE the sprint booster 2 . If it broke I'd buy a replacement - immediately.
