Dangers of High Speed?
Yesterday about 100mi into my return trip from Dallas to Houston I saw an open length of highway about 1.5 miles. I decided to get on it and was planning on cruising through at about (hypothetical) 120. As soon as I hit (hypothetical)110, I felt a heavy vibration and what sounded like a loud rattle. I immediately lifted off the gas. My first thought was that I broke my right front spring, but about 1 second later i heard the sound move under my car and out the back. Looking in the rear view mirror I saw front undercarriage cover fly out the back and about 40 feet into the median about 10 feet off the ground like a frisbee. Scared the crap out of me but having had it off several times, I knew that it wasn't a necessary part and carried on doing the speed limit until i got to a gas station. No damage to any parts under the car! All of the screws were still in place, the piece had broken at each screw. I'm just glad there weren't any cars near me it could have been a huge liability.
The whole rest of the drive home I was thinking that this may have never happened if I had a front lip spoiler(?).
Has anyone heard of this before?
Does anyone on here drive without this part or should I be looking to get a new one?

This happened to me before. The front of the cover wasn't secured properly and the air at high speed forced the panel down, and eventually it hit the ground. Once it hit the ground it was all over and friction grabbed it and hauled it back.

was he in 4? I just rented both 3 and 4 to recollect my memory so I know whats going on in 5. Tokyo drift was my favorite but if you wait till after the credits you see vin diesel which means to be continued. Its all about vin diesel, he makes the movies great and Im looking forward to seeing the rock in the next one
but how did he die and then come back ??
he must be an illusionist and tricked us all
anyways...waiting for the fast five

No, I do all my own work, and I did take that off on the last oil change 6K ago. It's had (2) 14hour/1000 mile trips (non-stop) since then with plenty of high speed. I think that may be the root cause, seeing as there was high stress on the points for long periods of time...? Anyhow, It looks like I'll be cleaning up under there, it is pretty ugly looking, anyone see anything wrong with spraying regular old engine cleaner on the undercarriage parts?
thanks, glad I'm not the only one.

off topic again but I just watched 4 another time. In the beginning Han talks to Vin Diesel and says stuffs been going down and Vin Diesel says looks like its time for you to do youre own thing. Han then says "I heard they been doing crazy stuff in Tokyo." So it was before he died, I liked how they put that in there and never noticed it till now

yes in 4 they bust him out the bus before he goes to jail so then he goes to Japan. This just means its before Japan, I have a feeling someone else is going to die as well

Man.. I got a good laugh out of this thread. Anyway, you really should replace the skid plate. All the car manufacturers are starting to put these on but they are so cheap. Problem is the screws the threads either start to strip so that it's not held on too good, or you'll run over something in the road that tears some of it off (happened to me). I drove my last MB for over a year with a whole section missing So without the plate you'll get water splashed up in the engine compartment. The most common issue on many cars is the alternator getting wet and thus corroding.
I just don't understand why they don't make these things out of metal!
Go F&F 5 !!
