What do you think of this CLK500?
I am looking at purchasing a CLK500 and came across one in town that is priced very low at $9000. The car is in great shape however it has HIGH HIGH Miles. Im talking 245,000!!! Would I be wasting my time and money purchasing a CLK500 w/ milage so high.
I own a 2006 Grand Prix GXP as my DD. It has a 5.3 Liter LS4 and I love it so the CLK would be more of a weekend car. As long as I don't like it too much!
Opinions? What should I check on? I know they have problems with the shift linkage and the auto close doors are imperfect by design however, anything else?

Honestly, I wouldn't even bother with it, that's an easy $9,000 down the drain if it craps out on you the next day...and then good luck finding a buyer for it after that, lol.

Duh!
I was thinking it would be a bad purchase, however I wanted a second opinion regarding the reliability of these cars. It just looked so nice w/ such high milage!
Thank You!

Lol, isn't that the truth! He said he's had it for sale for about 2 months now and everyone keeps walking away because of the milage.

Walk away and save up for one that's a little less tired. Anything that goes wrong with these cars can be very expensive. My.02

That was a very valid point. I would pay that $9k and could never expect a return on investment regardless of the money I put into it. I really didn't even look at it that way.

Don't do it man but keep looking and you'll find your deal and know that is the car for you...the sticker is probably for tint I'm guessing so you can't lower the windows...
We'll see you on here soon...

Did I miss something? What year is it?
Two points:
1: The price is too high... reasons: milage, going to need work, most people dont want a gas guzzler. Talk them way down.. walk away and see if they call back.
2: How are you with cars? If your the DIY type and are able to perform alot of the tune-up type stuff yourself (spark plugs, wheel bearings, control arms.. etc..) then it may be a good purchase for you (at a lower price of course).

Thought I would give my experience.
I bought my 240 on 175,000 miles about 6 months ago.
Got to test drive it for about 1000 miles as it was one of the bosses cars, and had full MBSH and ran extremely smooth.
But the price also reflected the mileage and I got the car for about 50% off similarly aged cars, but with less miles.
I would say for your weekend driving purposes, it should be good, AS LONG AS the price reflects the miles, and therefore you wont feel much of a hit if something does need repairing.
