if you want r1 rotors, i found that they have an ebay store as well. the funny thing is that the price on ebay is cheaper than the price on the site with free shipping lmao

Selling on eBay you have to pay eBay & Paypal fees. They are probably trying to make up the difference.

Barely sleeping would be more than what I'm doing.

On the track they performed very well for a ceramic pad, I was very surprised. As for noise, lucky you, I ran them on 3 different rotors - blanks, a little noise in the morning but after a few brakes, nothing. Drilled, less cold noise but a little braking noise. Slotted, well, typical slotted grinding noise on a hard brake.

My favorite combination was drilled rotors and red's, I really had no issues at all with them. I'd run that combo again but my situation no longer makes it an option, I need something big with serious clamping power.
Did you ever try tracking the car with the OEM pads? If they performed well, I could live with the brake dust (I can't stand brake noise).

The stock pads on the R1 rotors are great, that's what I'm doing right now. I'm sure they would be okay on the track if I was running autocross but full road course and 20 minute sessions would put a lot of heat and strain into them, I'm 100% sure they would be better than the Akebobo's though.

They aren't quiet though, you get the usual brake grind because of the rotors but no high pitched noises.

Nope, I haven't looked at them but thanks for the nod, I didn't really have time to have any problem with the R1 rotors, it was just the Akebono pads that wore out in 7 laps. I actually have 20 pistons worth of braking power headed my way early next week.

Thank you for all the compliments. The car looks good and somewhat fast but, I am surprised to see people track the benz. They are not very good at that and they are expensive to fix. Light cars will be much better at.... Good luck and be careful.

My fellow race-club members would disagree with you, as would I. That's like looking at a C180 and saying "C class cars aren't good for the track", pretty sure a C63 would be offended to hear you say that... In the right hands, just about any car can be competitive on the track in the proper class.

20 Pistons (6/4 Pot)?! Fantastic! Can't wait to see the write up!
BTW Kev, please share some track time pics if you have them, it's rare to have non-AMG W209 track pics.

Only 10 miles on the brakes, they are still noisy. If I had to do it again I would buy different pads.

Its OK to disagree or have different opinions. I usually choose the easiest or best tool for the job.
1. Quater mile = old muscle cars.
2. Track = light asian cars
3. Relaxing = Benz
4. Relaxing with some sport = bmw

So does the majority here think the R1 rotors and Akebono Euro pads are a good choice for just normal everyday driving? This was going to be my next investment here very soon.

I'll do that mate, once my brakes are fitted and broken in I'll be back on the track. One of the guys in our group is pretty good with a camera so next time we go to YAS (F1 tarck in Abu Dhabi) I'm going to ask him to snap so lap pics with my 5D for me. I only have one of the session I did on the Dubai track at night so give me a little time

I'd say yes, they don't have the bite of the stock pads but they are just fine for a daily and your wheels will stay very, very clean. I really miss that about them.

OP, sorry for the thread-jack, this'll just take a minute. Here you go Carlos;

Just a few laps after this is when the Akebono's took an ill timed vacation...
