Hello faded1004, about your rear set up 275/35-18 & 10mm spacers, regarding rear spacers, can you pls advise why are you using 10mm spacers? Is it for clearance or for apperance? Judging my from current rear set-up set-up (Conti 265/35-18s) & clearances, I think 275s would fit without spacers thus 285's will need 10mm spacers? Do you agree that 275s would fit without spacers? yes, the 275 would fit. but there is really close proximity to the inside chassis lip. at least on my car with 1.5 degree rear camber. with 275 on my rear, i was happy with the grip levels, the front is my weak point now. still have the "want" to try and fit a 245 with no rubbing...
i am planning on visiting the track soon and wanted to dial in about 2-2.5 degrees of camber for the track day? and i normally like 1.25 for daily... so keeping that room on the inside was important to me.
I am currently looking for wheels, but I can't get the right offsets for my 2007 CLK 350 Cab.
Currently on my stock 17x7.5 ET36 Front and 17x8.5 ET30 rear, but have installed square 225/45/17 winter tires on them and planning to keep that set for winter.
For summer, I am looking at either 18" or 19", but 19" seems to leave very little rubber on the wheel, so I am a bit skeptical as in Toronto the roads are totally !$#%@#!$%#$.

18x8 ET45 Front
18x8.5 ET48 Rear
if I put 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 can I fit them with a 10mm spacer in front and a 20mm spacer in the rear? (if my math is right...)

I am moving onto Michelin 235/40-18's . Depending on 235/40-18 fit, I may need 5mm spacers, but that will be determined upon installation. I know 5mm spacers will fit upfront. Many posters have 32 offset and 235/40-18 fitted without spacers. I'll update after installation
Rear: 18x9.5 ET 35 265/35-18 and no spacers, rolled rear fenders, H&R lowered springs and #2 pads. No rubbing, fitment is fine. I will move up to 275s or 285s depending on fitment. Many posters have 275/35-18s without spacers

I have the same setup but running 265 on the back. You will lose cushion and comfort going to an 18.

If you are concerned about potholes & blowouts, then for fronts, I would suggest 235s instead of 225s. 235s should fit on your rims without any spacers. Also do not buy 225 conti's as they seem to be too narrow for 8.5 rims resulting in "curved" sidewall & weakend sidewalls, as I have had 2 blowouts on Conti's. Michelin AS3's seem to have sturdier sidewall so I'll soon be installing 235 Michelins.
For rears, I ran conti 265/35-18s without any issues but 275s would give you more cushioning.

So I fitted Michein Pilots 235/40-18 on front wheels (18x8.5 ET35). I needed 5mm spacers (I have stock front suspension). When wheel is locked (wheel at a 45 degree), I have very slight rubbing with the front of inner fender liner which I will remedy soon using heat gun, once polar vortex leaves us. Otherwise no rubbing and I have 5-6mm space to the strut tower (as measured by passing a pen around the tires). Hope this helps others

I fitted Michelin Pilots 235/40-18 on front wheels (18x8.5 ET35) and need to confirm if 285/35-18 will work in the rears without setting off wheel sensors. I pulled the rear fenders and have enough clearance using 10mm spacers for 285's but the speed difference (235/40 vs 285/35) is 1.8% diff, & rule of thumb is 1% for AWD vehicles & 3% for other drives. However searching MB boards, many MB owners posted ABS issues if exceeding 1% speed diff for staggered tires. Can anyone confirm if 235/40-18 fronts will mix with 285/35-18 rears (1.8% speed diff) without setting of wheel sensors. Thank you

There's no effective difference between running spacers and running wheels with a lower offset. With that said, I wonder if the suspensions and bearings are failing like crazy on the CLK63 Black Series and the CLK DTM cars because of their wide bodies and low offset wheels......

Hi all need a bit of help. I have a 2009 CLK350 "AMG Sport" that came with the 17" wheels and AMG styling kit. Time to replace the struts and considering lowering the vehicle. So with that a couple questions:
1. I see a lot of people are using H&R lowering springs matched with Bilstein struts. What's the exact part number for both? I've been seeing H&R 29392 / 29392-2 / 29392-3 so I'm not sure which to get. This goes the same for the Bilstein struts.
2. Did anyone else have the "AMG Sport" pack from factory, I know it's a bit lower than the other CLK's so I'm curious if the H&R's are going to make a huge difference?
3. After your vehicle was lowered did you have to adjust the xenon projectors or did the car automatically adjust it's angle of projection?

I have 235/35/19 w/ ET35 wheels on the fronts, which has increased the steering effort by quite a bit. I wouldn't mind a 245/35 to add a tad more sidewall for cushion and tread width for grip. Have you noticed much heavier steering with your 255 set-up? Perhaps it's just my aging power steering pump or need to change the fluid?
Btw, I'm running 275/30/19 w/ ET35 wheels out back, along with a 10mm H&R to pull them away from the suspension a bit, and balance closer w/ the front wheel to fender. I get a slight rub at the left rear when going over bigger dips, but then the aging suspension and my big az doesn't help matters.
just got some wheels installed on the wifes car (C63S AMG wheels) with KW V1 Coilovers, 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 ET 35 on both running a 10mm spacer front and 15mm spacer in back
I am running MPS A/S3 in size 245/40-18 & 275/35-18 on 8.5/ET25 and 9.5/ET28 CLS rims - I purposely went up in aspect ratio to deal with NJ roads, otherwise would have gone down to 35 and 30 respectively. Wheels sit pretty flush with the fender w/o any spacers.
Mostly no rubbing other than in the front when slowly going around a corner with steering in full lock.
I also noticed that the steering feels a lot more heavy after changing from stock 17" wheels - I got used to it after one day but was still surprising.

Few questions for Michelin tires owners. I have stock size Micheling A/S3 from Costco in Mid 2014 and now have 10k miles on them.
I can see cracks on the side walls, is that normal and should be covered under warranty or no?

I hope you got those tires off of your car emidetly. You never want cracks and where on a tire. . I've been running Sumotomo tires for the last 20 years or so. I've run them on everything from my Dodge sprinter van, my Cadillac xlr, my Mercedes Benz clk500 to my Acura NSX's . I've never had any kind of problem with them. I get around 35 to 40k miles out of a set on all vehicles. . I've run Michelin tires on my motorcycles. I blow one of those going in to a corner. When all was said & done. I broke everything from my hips up. They had to cut my body out of a guardrail post. . I'll never run a Michelin tire on anything ever again!!

I had 20 inch wheels on mine. To fit any nice tire under the car they must be a 30 series sidewall. You lose any kind of a good ride with that low of a profile tire. I had 275x30x20 rears & 245x30x20 front. I felt ever tar strip, crack and especially pot hole in the road. Looks over comfort is not acceptable to me. I put the stock 17's back on. On the hunt now for a set of 18's I'll just sell the 20's with new tires

No way brother. You must’ve had weak suspension or cheap *** tires....something. The Ride quality improved 100%. It’s not even comparable. I got brand new suspension all around. But I put the wheels on first and the ride quality was not even comparable to the stock 17’s.

That's ok. You're entitled your personal opinion. With 30 series tires its handles a 100% better. Cornering it really is much better. But if you understand anything about tires. The lower the profile the more you feel every crack, tar strip & pot hole. Its theory. Maybe you have the theory of "Ride" & "Handling" confused. Or your young and no one can tell you the difference? A 2 inch tire side wall rides much worse then a 4 inch tire side wall. Just a fact of live......

Chill My friend, first of all im 42 years old. 2nd of all The combo I got is 22x8.5 Et35/74.10. I got 225/35/20 all the way around.3rd of all I have nothing confused, I certainly know the difference.
