Why such a small tire? I was really close to 30 when you were born. So yes, You are still young. You didn't accept the fact that a taller side wall rides better than a lower side wall. the year I was born starts with a 4. Not a 7 or an 8. You understand that's 1970 or 1980 like yourself. I'd been driving for almost 20 years when you were born!
Ok back to the series of a tire. What year clk are you driving. With 235 or 245 x30 I only have maybe a tad over a 1/4 of an inch from the top of my tire to the bottom spring pocket. You say you are running a 225x35x20 all around? Have you checked how close your tires are to your spring pocket? Your 35 series tires are .63 taller than my 30 series tires. I wouldn't run a tire that close to my suspension. Do you ever drive over a 100 miles an hour.
Your statement about running junk tires. I've been running Sumotomo tires for years now. I'd say as long as you've been alive. But I'm not sure they've been around that long. I started using them on my first Acura NSX back when you were 10 or 12.

Hi all need a bit of help. I have a 2009 CLK350 "AMG Sport" that came with the 17" wheels and AMG styling kit. Time to replace the struts and considering lowering the vehicle. So with that a couple questions:
1. I see a lot of people are using H&R lowering springs matched with Bilstein struts. What's the exact part number for both? I've been seeing H&R 29392 / 29392-2 / 29392-3 so I'm not sure which to get. This goes the same for the Bilstein struts.
2. Did anyone else have the "AMG Sport" pack from factory, I know it's a bit lower than the other CLK's so I'm curious if the H&R's are going to make a huge difference?
3. After your vehicle was lowered did you have to adjust the xenon projectors or did the car automatically adjust it's angle of projection?
Currently running into R230 SL55 AMG multispoke wheels on the car.
Thanks in advance!
I also have an AMG Sport pack from factory, although the european version may be slightly different as mine came with 18" AMG alloys as standard?
On my euro model, the AMG pack includes the AMG alloys, AMG body-kit and AMG sport muffler, while the Sport option includes the sport suspension which is firmer and also sits 1cm lower than standard Avant Garde ride height (which itself is already slightly firmer/lower than the Elegance) - also has uprated/bigger anti-roll bars (24mm I think?) over standard.
The euro Sport pack also included the 7G-Tronic 'Sport' (30% faster shifts than standard) with paddle-shift, cross-drilled front brake rotors, silver calipers with MB lettering, aluminum pedals, and I think 1 or 2 other upgrades like seats/steering wheel.
I've replaced all my springs with much lower/stiffer ones (not sure of the brand as shop did it), and also Bilstein shocks (rear part no. was 209-326-14-00-M12 from Pelican Parts, don't know fronts)
I'm running 19" alloys with 235/35 front (8mm spacers) and 265/30 rear (20mm spacers), no rubbing or issues.
Didn't have to adjust the Xenons on mine at all, seem to have adjusted themselves perfectly (thanks MB engineers!)
just got some wheels installed on the wifes car (C63S AMG wheels) with KW V1 Coilovers, 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 ET 35 on both running a 10mm spacer front and 15mm spacer in back

Looks very nice! When i purchased mine brand new. I looked at a white one. My girlfriend who would be driving the car. Didn't want a white car. She was driving my SL 500 at that time which was white with silver grey interior. She wanted a change. sooo. It was to Cadet Blue with black interior. It looks like a really dark blue to me but they say it's Black.
Well I noticed there are about 3 threads a day asking
"What size wheels will fit my car?"
"What size tires do I need? Are they going to rub a coilover?"
"How much can I lower it?"
Hopefully we can get a central location for all of this information in this thread-
A. Post a pic of your car
B. Post wheel: Size, Width, Offset.
C. Tire make/size
D. If using spacers-size and manufacturer. Shortened lug bolts or not.
E. If lowered- what manufacturer and how low. Also, if using a camber kit or not.
F. Any issues with your setup or warnings about previous setups.
I just bought a used set of BBS Hochenheims. I am in the process of refinishing them. they are 8.5x19 et35 front 9.5x19 et40 rear
2 questions Do I need spacers? Can I fit 225 40 19 front and 255 35 19 rears? I only ask because these are what i have from my previous car and they are brans new.

Fronts are ok. Very light touching on opposite lock going over bumps. Rears are a different story. I had to roll the fenders otherwise any slight dip and it touched. Should've gone with 265/30 but the whole set was 60% off and I couldn't resist being cheap.
Learned that this car is a bit of a diva about front to rear tire difference. Even at 3% cruise control only works below 55mph. I've had plenty of german cars in the past that tolerated up to 3.5-4% but not this one.
That's odd. I have 235x30x20 front & 285x30x20 rear. No rubbing cruise control works fine at all speeds. Passenger rear only rubs when a railroad track sneaks u on me at speed. No spacers, nothing rolled...
Rims are 20x8.5 F. 20x9.5 rears.

Not sure about yours but mine is lowered so much easier for things to rub. Even with #4 pad the rears tuck with 35 profile tire, worse if there's weight in the trunk.
I'll need to check if reset procedure exists for cruise control. Your setup has over 4.4% front rear difference so I'm not sure why CC is working at higher speeds.
Hello,
I see that R18 most popular is 8.5 F and 9.5 R. but what about 8 and 9?
Did not find exact same setup: R18 8.0 front 225/40 and 9.0 rear 255/35 both with ET35 would fit without spacers?
CLK550 2007
Second option that i love is R18 8.0 225/40 Front ET45 and R18 9.5 255/35 ET45. But i guess that 10mm spacer is needed for front and 15mm for rear? Is that right?
Thank you!

see. I only have you by 30 years!
I’m glad you can argue the point of theory.
Maybe you should write a book. If you can put it in Theory. You’re going to be rich.
🤪
The lower the sidewall the harsher the ride. Please put it down in Theory so everyone including myself can understand “Your” theory.
Everything I’ve read for the past 60 plus years has always stated. The lower the side wall the better the handling will be. But at the same time the lower the side wall the harder the ride will be.
Please write down your theory and send it off to Sir Isaac and explain to him how far off he has been for the past 100 years or so!!
I know a lot of people that are going to kick themselves for changing out their 25 and 30 series tires because they didn’t like the harshness of them. They went to 35 and 40 series because “they” thought they rode much nicer.
Those Silly Wabbits !!!!!
I’m getting my shot gun out and finish that Wabbit off for once and for all !!!!!
🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇
there are just so many of them....
🙈🙉🙊🐒 what’s the theory on that there 4th Wabbit??????
i think he’s taking a dump.
but you know how my theory goes 🤪👍

I expect you will need a spacer on the rear; probably just a 10mm. The tires sizes are fine.
I have a 2004 Clk320 , I have F 8.5 225 40 18 R 9.5 255 35 18 , apart from the speedo reading wrong would it do any harm to fit larger profile tires ? I was thinking of going up to 225 45 18 and 255 40 18 just to help the ride . According to wheel-size the tire is 26mm bigger diameter so it will make the car 13mm higher .

Reason: New info
So i screwed up. the rims i bought from offer up are 20x8.5 +18 offset and 20 x 10 +18.. The rear will need spacers to fit because the caliber is hitting the rim. (275/35r20). the front needed 215/30 tires because it was rubbing against the bottom of the strut cup. but the biggest issue is that i believe the rims are 5 x 114. because the bolts do not necessarily match up identically. (slightly off) . im thinking i can get them bored but i do not know how safe that is. (suggestions?).
So im thinking about going with news rims. what is the widest offset rim i can safely go with without having to roll the fenders? As well, what is the widest offset i can go with if i do decide to roll the fenders? This is for a 2005 clk500
ANyone care to share any recent experiences with tires on their CLK? I have a CLK350 due for new shoes (tires) and am trying to not be 'cheap' but be economical. I have seen (and currently have on there) Primewell Valera tires, Potenza, Michelins... etc.
Am in the US, so looking for reasonably priced, yet not overly noisy tires... I don't run excessive speed or aggressive driving... thoughts?
So I got a deal on some amg rims and tires. They came off an sl55 amg. Question is will they fit on my clk55amg. The rear are 18x9.5? I believe and tire is 285/35/18. Front is 255/40/18. Will these fit on my 2003 clk55 amg?
I have a Mercedes CLK 200k cabriolet 2007 AMG line
