Help: 2005 CLK500 Key stoped working...
Hello,
I've owned this clk500 for a couple of years now and the key battery finally ran out. I replaced the batteries as per a video I saw on youtube and I can now lock an unlock the doors, and put the top down using the key, but it will not start the car... the key will not even turn in ignition.
I have a second key that works fine, but I wanted to give my wife the other one ( I don't like sharing...)
Any one know how to fix this, or do I have to take it in to the dealer?
Thanks,
Shawn

I only ask because one time my wife replaced batteries in all the fobs and put the wrong keychains on them, my CLK wouldn't start the next day...

I dunno man, X-Files type stuff going on there... Could be the biggest case of coincidence ever and your ignition mod failed, key won't turn when it's cooked.

Figured it out...
Ok, maybe I'm a bit slow but apparently all I had to do was push one of the buttons on the fob while it was in the ignition to get the key to turn. You can hear the ignition unlock when you do that. Unfortunately it seems you have to do it each time you want to turn the car on. Safety feature? I don't have to do that with my other key... Any one know if there is a menu option to turn that "feature" off?
Thanks,
Shawn
