Broken mirror parking aid adjustment
All of a sudden my mirror parking aid is broken. Used to work just fine and stopped one day. I can still adjust the mirror with the controls so the motors / electronics / connections are fine. I turned the option off in the settings, removed the key. Turned it back on, still no change. I like to park in to the garage at an angle to leave more room for wife's E with the kids opening the doors etc. The builder decided to put a post in the middle between the two car section and the single car section to hold the support beam and thats the side my wife parks. I backup on the wall side with the passenger side mirror about 2 in away from the garage wall and the rear fender the same. Having the passenger mirror tilt down while backing up is a great help. I know its a small thing but it pisses me off every day after I come back from work
Any ideas?

Twice in the last year mine has done this, I had to maually set it again and then have had no problems. Now that I think about it, the first time it did it was after I changed batteries and the second was after I had my new instrument cluster installed...?

My continues to be broken, I adjusted by hand for driving using the adjustment controls and then turning on / off the parking aid does absolutely nothing when I hit the reverse gear. Normally it would adjust down to show the rear fender / wheel and curb area. Its like the signal to tell it that I'm in R does not get communicated. I did not do anything with the battery. Maybe a complete disconnect of the power would help to reset things. I have to disconnect it anyway to run the power wires to the trunk for the amp.

Yea, great feature for downtown, when it works! It seems to loose its memory sometimes. I was just messing with mine again to reset it, I got it to start working by putting the car in reverse, then push the down arrow to move the mirror where I wanted it. It seemed to memorize this as when I went back in Drive, it went up to normal position after 5 seconds. I then went back in R and it moved on its own to where I previously set it.

Go to your setup screen and select the convenience options, should be easy entry for the staring wheel / seat and one for the side mirror, might say parking something. Just check your car manual

Perhaps they dropped this option for your 2009 model. For example my wifes 2011 E350 no longer has the convinced entry feature that moves the chair back. Now it only moves the steering wheel in and up.
Check the "Easy Entry / Exit Feature" in the manual page 97 and 133

My 2007 doesn't have it. I looked in the manual and it is not mentioned, at least I couldn't find it. Two features I like about my E320 are the parking assist pax mirror and the rest feature for the heat. I was dissappointed to see they were not on the CLK.

Looks like MB had issues with that feature as well as the seat move for easy access. I guess they decided to drop this feature in the newer models instead of fixing or redesigning it. My wife's 2011 E class no longer has the seat move easy access option like the previous line of the E did.

Yep, all I had to do was push the button in for the right mirror and it started working again. I really needed it for backing into spaces next to curbs, where I park a lot at work, and getting out of my garage easily. And I love the entry/exit feature. The older you get, the more you appreciate that one. With that light interior, the previous owner had rubbed some color off the seat bolster trying to get in, apparently because she never set the car up.
