Unfreaking believable!
I have been putting this off for a while and finally set back to it.
Perhaps it was for the best because I kept wondering why the partition seemed to be rubbing on something today.
Found this wiring (see pic) sticking up, making its way into the trunk, and interfering with the partition.
I was able to push it down through the guide it passes (towards the rear) but it came back up after successfully opening and closing the top.
So, the struts are still working but I have this issue.

Any thoughts, please?

Can't tell from your pic exactly what those wires are, but can't you use a small zip tie to hold them up elsewhere?

Thank you for your suggestion.
It is the same side as switch for the roof (drivers).
And it looks like it is to move regularly so I am afraid to tie it down and, perhaps, create another problem.
You can see the wiring just above the skirt a bit to the left. I pulled it up for pic.
The 2nd pic shows the channel for it.

I'll look later at mine and tell you how it is connected, but I'm pretty sure that is the same wires I secured by using an elastic strap with a little bit of the hook part of Velcro glued or sewn to it, and the Velcro sticks to the black fuzzy liner stuff and the elastic allows it to move. I can post a pic later today.

Here is a pic of what did. It's elastic string I threaded through holes punched in a piece of Velcro strip, then I used zip ties so the elastic would not slip. I pulled it out straight so you can see better. Been that way 6 years. Can't remember what it was rubbing on. I can't believe they don't give Nobel Prizes for stuff like this.

A Side-Related Issue

I have been cleaning things up and noticed the following two pieces loose but in the area of where the roof locks to the top of the front windscreen.
Please confirm that they clip into the square holes that I have pictured as well as to confirm the orientation of these parts before I goof up something.
Thank you for any help and best regards,
Evan

Does anyone have a part number and/or source of the pins that hold the partition, please?
I have found that my driver side pin has gone missing.
Thank you and best regards,
Evan

When I was changing my partition struts one of my partition pins fell out. I thought it was missing. I later found it but it was a hard find. I thought it fell into a black hole or something. I did not give up but it took awhile to find it. I found it behind the fuse box. The partition will not work properly without the pin in place.

Smile Replacing trunk partition struts on CLK 350

I tried the technique described by WBurke07 in his 2014 post, and it was as easy as he said it would be. I paid $55 for two struts, I guess prices have gone up. On my 2006 CLK350, it would have been easier to install the new strut first on the ball in the trunk mount because of the narrow slot in the interior body work, but it was still easy. My "Stealership" wanted $95 for parts plus $400 for labor (plus tax)

Trunk Partition Hinge Pin

For now, I used a M8x35mm bolt, meant to mount a flat screen TV to one of those articulated wall brackets, and a modified cotter pin to act as a friction nut so the bolt does not migrate or shake loose.
I'll add a pic tomorrow.

Thanks again for any and all help.
-Evan

Thanks for the suggestion but I could not find it in there.
And I almost got my hand stuck while feeling for the pin.
I'm making do with the makeshift bolt until I get the replacement.
Best,
Evan

Update: pics of part no. 2096940058 ($4+ at the dealer) and temp bolt.

Clk350 trunk partition shocks...

I recently got a 2007 CLK 350 convertible and am having the same problems many had with the message about closing the partition and further examination I found the micro switch and have jammed in wedge of wood to hold it in place to fool the top in the meantime I'm trying to repair the whole thing and found the two struts are still attached to the divider but the other ends are just hanging loose and I can't figure out where in the world they are supposed to attach to! Any help would be greatly appreciated I'm about ready to take the whole thing out!

I don't have an actual photo to show - maybe someone else does. Bu below is the EPC (parts catalog) diagram. The strut is item 420. It attaches to a small ball on the side of the plastic frame pieces on the back of the rear seat wall. It's easiest to access from above. Operate the top and stop it once the compartment lid and rear window are fully raised. Just be careful as the glass will lower itself after a minute, so use something to support it.
