Does the clk500 wheel have the exact same small button mechanism as the clk55? (I.e small button for downshifting on left, small button for up shifting on right?)

Nope, up or down button on both sides of the wheel.

You'll have to pop one shift button out and see if it's a simple rocker switch or if it's a resistive switch. If it's resistive you'll have to transfer the electronics, if it isn't, it's a simple swap as described.

Is there any difference between the control units for the paddles? I've seen 2 or 3 different versions. Will they all work?

It appears (from other threads) that some have resistive circuit boards and to swap to the ones posted here, the electronics needed to transferred over to be recognized. These paddles (that I used) and simple rocker switches, no resistors, they were a direct electronic swap from my dual phase shift buttons.

Do you have the shift buttons on yours? I'm guessing you do.

Good link. I posted one a while back from a BMW (yep, Bimmer) forum where a guy did the same thing, added AMG shift padels to his bimmer.

Nope, parts.com doesn't ship to the land of the sand, I get raped at the dealership for my MB parts.

Would you be interested in my Black Series steering wheel (same interior color as yours) with the padels aready installed? It's most likely going to be for sale shortly.
