I was just inspecting the front of the vehicle and noticed them when looking at the headlight . Just wanted to make sure that was normal. I think you're both right above it being the condensation drain hole

Blub replacement

HI all, I have been thinking about replacement my blubs since one side look blue and their other side is starting to look more orange. Does anyone know how to tell what type of lighting i have on my CLK?? My ride is 06 CLK500 and I got it used. I don't know how to tell if it is xenon? bi xenon? HID?

Thanks

The factory hella projectors use D2S bulbs. Does your headlight look like the above posted picture or does it look like a stock reflector housing? If reflector housing the bulb is H7. At which point if you want something brighter go with:

http://store.candlepower.com/osraulhiouh7.html

Before I did the projectors on the merc my reflector housing I used the Osram for both high and low... it was extremely good light output. The extra 15watts don't make a problem either.

Go to retrofitsource.com. They have several options available. IF you have projector (HID)

http://www.theretrofitsource.com/components/bulbs.html

I believe factory uses Osram bulbs. I went with Philips mainly due to the fact that the factory Osram bulbs start to turn pink after a while as they color fade and looks bad to me. $100 for the bulbs or you can drop almost $200 for the absolute brightest Philips/Osram ones... 3200 lumens. IF you want the most like look at the Osram nightbreakers, I think they are rated at 3500 lumens...

I can't see spending $200 for D2S bulbs so I went with the normal Philips 85122. This seems like my go to bulb for my STi that has a projector retro fit in it, my truck and the Merc... Never had an issue using OEM Philips.

The first thing I would do is to change the bulbs from one side to the other. If the bulbs stay the same colors but on different sides then you have a bulb problem. If the bulb movement doesn't make a difference then you have a ballast problem.

Great idea. I will check it out tonight... is the operation to switch the bulb quite simple? is there anything I should be mindful of when I change the bulbs? Thanks

No, it's pretty simple. All is accessible from the back of the headlight unit. Changing the ballast will require removing the guilty headlight. Good luck

Has anyone re-fitted the bulbs and ballast that came with the USR Depo headlights? I'm getting some flickering upon startup on my left side and I think the ballasts are about to go bad (not that they were that good in the first place).
