O yeah like it allot. Its something to get used to as it's completely different from stock. When its get to a set speed it really quiets down.

I have only have had this car a few months, I am still used to my STS Caddy that I drive daily. The CLK is a animal compared to the caddy.

I will be taking it for a long spin this weekend and will get a better feel for it. If I feel it's to loud after awhile I could always add the the resonators back I suppose.

Congrats on a real good looking and flowing system Louie! Now you have the looks, sound and performance of a proper aftermarket system mate

Question - on replacing exhaust to custom setup - did anyone chip the computer as well and/or change the air filters?

I have noticed my clk seems slower, I thought it was do to loss of BP but I was told the Benz computers change to correct the car from running lean or rich by itself - Anyone Know About This or did the chip and found it made big diff.

Thanks

Now this is a setup I'd consider for my ride! Nice to see you can run the dual exh out one side. I'm not keen on removing the spare tire pan, etc...

This is on my list.

The ECU is adaptive and will correct itself (if nessasary) after a few hundred miles of driving given that the mods are minor like exhaust, air box, filters, etc.

I will be sending my ECU out in about 2 weeks after I get a pulley installed and a few other things done.

I have only had the exhaust 2 days now I have not noticed any loss, today no one was on the road on the way to work so I got to open it up a tad and it seemed to have the same power or more but I take that like getting new running shoes when I was a young kid I always seemed to run faster.

Ok I let us know how much of a diff it makes when u get ECU back.......I just ordrd the Green air cleaners lets see what that does when installed then next step will be to chip - I just dont trust a place that dosent set the ECU up to your cars mods.....All my other projects when I did my mods the car was tuned to what I had done to the car to max out HP/TRQ the place that you send ECU to basiclly just flashes it to the program they have and they charge like 400-600 bucks, someone correct me if I am wrong on this - it just dosent seem like money well spent, we can basiclly just put car in sport mode for similar results.........again if someone knows more about this please explain...........Thanks

Usually, when shops do a standard flash they just take the conservative, don't want to do too much warranty work- factory tune and flash in a more aggressive, but still relatively safe for the motor, fuel curve and timing band.I've also seen flashes that raise the shift point a couple hundred RPM's in every gear. So no matter what your mods are the computer will still "learn" and adapt to them. For instance, the exact same flashed ECU on a car with intake/exhaust/manifolds VS. a factory engine will still gain more HP. See if you can get them to tell you in writing what exactly they are doing when they flash it and post it here. Also, let me know how the flash works out! haha

Hmmm like I said, I am not sure about all this stuff. What is this called then? It’s not there now.

The tips are installed on the Magnaflow so I am not sure what you are talking about.

Sorry I dont know much about cars at all.

I thought that was a resonator because there are 2 CAT’s before that right ?

ya thats the resonator! i removed mine...but no real big difference...i'll likely put a magnaflow dual in out where there resonator is and have it go out to a quad exhaust....

good to know how nice it sounds on ur car

Louie, you had 3 resonators on your car from the factory, the two small bubble ones (where the secondary cats would be on the 500 like mine) and the single resonator downstream (that you have now removed). Leaving the two bubble resonators in place aren't restricting any flow, they are just helping smooth out the sound a little, I'd leave the system exactly as is.
