CLK 550 Cab. Exhaust Dual in Dual out
Just installed today Dual in Dual out Exhaust on my 550, the tech and I discussed this for a few days and we decided that we would keep it on one side a Sleeper per say
The Cabriolet does not leave a lot room on the back right side to do much and we did not want to start tearing things up.
We started with a MagnaFlow Dual/Dual 14in until we realized we could not install both resonators because of the room issue. So bye bye resonators and we ended up with MagnaFlow Dual/Dual 18in. to compensate for it.
The car sounds way better than it did before, I am very happy with the overall job that was done. A huge shout out to Richard and his team at RPM.
Attached are some before and after pic’s enjoy.

I applaud the effort but your exhaust guy hasn't exactly built you a good flowing system. Those crush bends are horrifically detrimental to flow, you would have been better off with a single 3" pipe in that section or if dual - mandrel bends. I'm sure it sounds great with the deleted 2nd cats, resonator and Magnaflow muffler but the design isn't going to do much for HP gains.
Not hacking on you mate, just offering some advice that the exhaust shop should have.

Kev,
Thanks for the feedback I really appreciate it allot as I don't know a whole lot about this stuff. Everything is fixable as I learned in life.
Do you mean these 3 area's ?
I will talk to him in the morning.

Yea, those are the areas of concern, that X-pipe looks incredibly restrictive especially on a large displacement engine that huffs a lot of air at high rpm. Take a look at my exhaust thread, everything on mine is mandrel bends (AMS/Magnaflow... Something something).
Good luck mate.

You can tell them in the future to try and fill the piping up with sand before they bend it with a kinker and it will decrease the size of those divots at each bend. Or just get a good mandrel bender.

Louie, if you take off the front license plate, add the front clear bumper lenses and rear LED (smoke) lights, it would look much nicer. I have the same car as you, but in coupe.
I need the quad exhaust set up. I can't find a reputable shop that specializes in custom exhausts, not going to take it to just any muffler shop. Did you get the AMG tips for the right side to match the left side OEM dual tips?
I noticed you have the ugly halogens too, I'm going to upgrade to xenons if you are interested.

I thought we could not take off the license plate here in CA I recall getting pulled over before years ago, I do have the clear side markers on it now and I am changing them to painted ones same as the car color going to do it myself.
I would be very interested in the lights for sure.
Thanks

You risk a small fine if you take off the front plate. When was the last time you saw a front plate on a Ferrari/Lambo? It doesn't affect your driving record at all. Small price to pay for a nice luxury car.
