2003 CLK 320
seat belt stopper...

so i bought a set from parts.com....but i cant figure out how they go together and stick together. i mean i understand the one just attaches on to the other but they dont seem to click together......is there a step im missing?

I think I found the part on parts.com, #2 & #3 on the diagram:

"belt & retractor stop upper & lower," so I guess I buy one of each @ $3.12 ea.

okay, picked up a set at the dealer ($11.65 + tax!) and I can't figure out how they go together either.


Parts-counter guy said "they go together only once, so make sure you place them right" but one side has a hole and the other a pin, and there must be some tool to squash or melt that pin into the hole....anyone?

before I go outside with a nail set, a clamp and a cigarette lighter, is there a tool or a technique to put this thing in? The OEM-installed one looks like this:


...while the pre-installed parts have the "pin" sticking out this much:



How do I melt/mash that down??
