retrofitting a kompressor from a c32 huh?
interesting. taking a stab in the dark but im sure the compression is different as well as the internals. im sure it might be possible but you wont get the maximum power output from your car without a massive tune.
also, think about the cost of the retrofit vs taking the whole engine block from a c32 and putting it on.

p.s.- you are correct the ratios are
C 32 9.00:1
320 10.0:1

wes got his engine block for around 3k.
his budget for this project was around 10k. im not sure how the c32 supercharger mates to the engine or if anything needs to be replaced. but for sure the project will be well over 2k.
haha best of luck if you try to do this and let us know. if it does work, this does sound interesting to do as well.

ya i looked around a few places, and they are selling c32 and slk32 superchargers for about a thousand. Looking through some other threads tho, they say that the 320 motor wont be able to handle the pressures created by the sc. And i dont know how severe modding will be necessary to even get it to fit and work properly.

well i actually have a friend who might be able to get a used one to me for about a thousand, plus any other parts and install i would guess is another thousand. If this can get done for about 2k I would be so down to do it right now. Wouldnt a new engine block be around 10k?

I would love to buy a 500 or 550 but i love my 320 loll, im just too attached to it loll. I wish there were better options to beef it up.

2003 CLK240
Hi everybody,
I have a CLK240 2.6 V6. As far as I understand the engine block is the same as the 320, 350 and C32. I was also thinking about maybe trying to supercharge it at some point or to make it go faster. My reason for not wanting to change to a bigger engine CLK is that I will lose the stick. (If I'd have 55 or 63 money the stick could go...maybe)
But I was just wondering if there is any performance tuning option for me that doesn't cost and arm and a leg.
Also, does somebody know if it's possible to maybe fit a Tremec manual 6 speed to a 500 or 550 ? Or maybe a manual out of a BMW ?

Yes, you 2.6l engine is the M112, which is the same block used in the 320 and 32-AMG models. Those 3.2l versions use a different crank that increases stroke on the piston travel (and thus displacement). The 350 engine is different - it's an M272 and shares very few parts with the M112.
As for performance, there's not much you can do. There are companies that sell superchargers and even turbochargers, but you'll pay for much more than the value of the car for those upgrades. Your best economical solution is to trade the car for one with a more powerful engine. And of course that may mean losing the 5M transmission. I am not aware of any V8 MBZ's with MTs. I believe the reason is that their MTs are simply not capable of handling the extra torque. They didn't bother to engineer a beefier MT because typical MBZ buyers look for the convenience and comfort of an AT.

This is just a sneaky idea but would it be possible to change the crank for the 320 crank in order to increase displacement and power and to leave everything as it is? Cause this way the car could stay a 2.6 on paper so you wouldn't pay the extra fees and taxes that you would pay for the 3.2

Honestly, I don't know of it would be that simple. The ECU would definitely need to be re-coded. Also, I don't know if the cylinder sleeves are the same length. I don't know about your country (I assume not the USA?) but here, the tax difference between a C240 and C320 would not be enough to justify the work.

The parts, labor and difficulty coding and getting everything to work right with a longer stroke would be much more than most taxes I would presume. Also you will need to work out if they bored the block to get the extra engine capacity. You may find changing the stroke only gains you an extra 200-300mL. That also assumes the rods and wrist pins etc are all the same and compatible which they probably are. You will need new bearings also anytime you mix/match engine components = machining time. If you then bore it out and use larger pistons you now have smaller 2.6 heads which will not flow as well. Also it alters the combustion chamber size and shape and how the flame front spread so you would be best to swap in the 320 heads. In that case you might as well swap the entire engine and just pretend is is a 2.6..... basically get a faster car.

Many of us have these ideas very frequently. I am constantly wanting to supercharge my CLK and have managed to talk myself out of it so far. Don't worry its very normal.
