Probably a good idea to purchase genuine MB parts for this, I just got a set on ebay or amazon I don't remember, but they were real cheap, and they look it too. There is a seam from manufacutring that looks like it will leak. I havent changed mine yet, as they don't look like they are leaking, I just saw them and thought I would need them some day. If I remember correctly, they were like 10 or 15 bucks

Our 2007 CLK350 CAB started leaking this year (11k miles). My son is concerned enough that he wants it towed in for repair.

Probable do more damage towing. They are fairly easy to change. Won't hurt to drive it.

I think he was concerned that one of those plugs could come out and lose all the oil..

There is only crankcase pressure, not much. I would go to the nearest mb dealer and get original mb parts, they are cheap.
The 272 and 273 have cam plugs

So you are saying that there is not much chance of losing all the oil. Assuming that's where the leak is. He checked the area around a plug and found oil.

It would have to be pouring out to lose all your oil. Just a leaking gasket isn't huge problem.

I changed my cam covers several years ago & took about 10 mins to complete. Buy the plug covers from MB dealer so you can see what they look like. Then change the front plugs first and then the rears. On my v8, the rears were a little difficult to see but I was able to feel for the plugs and then remove the old plugs using a long flat head screwdriver.

Thanks for all your help. We canceled the tow truck and planning on changing the plug using MB OEM parts this weekend. BTW, the dealer said it was 300-400$ to do the work.

Well, my son replaced the plugs over the weekend. It looks like a small piece is missing on one of the smaller plugs. Eith it hit the ground or stayed in the engine when he took it out. No sign of the plastic piece. Are we in trouble if it stayed in the engine?
