Wish me luck, guys.
Look like I'll be getting my dream car sooner then expected. I've look about 10 2005-2008 Slk55 for the last 6 months now. One w'kleemann SC stages 8 and one w'Renntech SC but passed on all of them and decided on the 2009 slk55 because of the updated AMG look (I were in the same situation when i bought my 2006 Clk500 Cab. instead of the 2004-2005 Clk55 Cab. because of look). I though about saving money by buy the cheaper 2005-2007 models then updated the front AMG bumper but then it would still not look right without the updated mirror and updated steering wheel. lucky for me, I found an 2009 Slk55 with loaded options included the "AMG Performance Packages". The only option that's missing is the two-tone color that I ike alot. I already put a non-refundable deposit for me to hold the car until the 23th of Nov. when I fly out to do final inspection. If every things is according to what the dealer said, then I'll be driving her 1500 miles (21 hrs.) home. Here's a peak at her.................

Klinh, before you get buyers remorse, see if you can borrow a SLK from a friend for a month. I used to have a SLK (not AMG though), I got tired of it after a month because it was too small. I like the SL more but its too pricey for me.

I don't even remember how long ago it was that I went a MB event at a former Air Force base here in MA. They had 3 test courses set up so you could drive most models: an obstacle course with slippery patches for the 4Matics, a crazy mountain-like track for the M and G (I skipped that one), and the longest course of all for SL's and SLK's. The SLK was hands down my favorite, as it was just a blast to drive. Alas, it isn't practical for me, but that's what "dream cars" are all about! I envy you guys that have the cojones to fly out to buy a car and drive it home. I hope it all works out for you Klinh, and i look forward to the W209 Parting-out sale!!

Yeah, it maybe be small for alot of people but I'm a small dude (5-7 and 165 lbs) so it not an issue here. As for not being practicle because it a 2 seater, we have 3 other cars in the house with 4 seater.
My boss and co-workers thought that I'm crazy to fly to another states just to buy a car and drive 21 hrs. home. My answers, cars is in my blood and I love doing anything that associate with cars. So I considered, it a road trip just me and my new love.

As for parting-out the Clk, sorry but I'm still keep her too for along time. Btw, anyone want to sell their AMG version Sprint Booster? I already bought the side bumper clear lens years ago and now I'm rushing to get a Sprint Booster to bring it with me and change it out on the spot before drive her home.

Looks like the only bad news is the front plate bracket appears to have been drilled into your front bumper. I was so pissed at the dealer for doing that to my CLK when I got mine, I ended up paying a body shop to fill those 4 small holes and repaint.

Beautiful! I flew out of state to pick up mine and drove 10 hours home, so I understand ya. Most folks thought I was crazy as well. As this is my first Mercedes I considered it valuable one on one time without having to hear how obsessed I was spending too much time in the car. Best of luck on completing the purchase.

Congrats! The SLK is a great car if you don't need the room of the SL or CLK. I would have one if I weren't 6'2" with a tall torso - I just can't get comfortable in it. I was actually looking at SL's when I bought my CLK, but then I found the SL's have nasty problems with ABC around 4 years and 50K miles (conveniently right outside of the warranty). The SLK is a very solid vehicle.

Congrats, traded my 350 for a CLK55
You won't regret it, the SLK is such a great car....
I've used it as a daily driver for 2.5 years even in the winter and it never failed me.

congratulations! i just purchased an E46 M3 and was gonna drive it back home but in the end decided to transport it. The 20 hour drive would have been too long.
