The 272 engine in my 2008CLK350.
Without ability to research my VIN on the Russian web site, is there any way to determine my engine serial number? For some reason my VIN does not come up on the search. My 2010 E350 doesn't either for that matter.
From all of the web sites I have looked at, the 2008 CLK350 is not cited as one of the models subject to the balance shaft problems or part of any lawsuit. I'd just like to confirm.
Is the SN visible somewhere.

06 CLK350 -SOLD! 2010 Cadillac SRX Premium Turbo
I have a 2006 CLK350 which does fall into that category. I'm not going to worry over something that has had a very small percentage of failure in the 350. I did however get it documented at the MB dealership for replacement at their expense and signed off by all parties.
Who knows.... by then it may be a NTSB recall item.

Your engine serial number is etched onto the engined block on the top edge of the bell housing on the right (USA passenger) side. Pull the plastic engine covers off and follow the oil dipstick tube as it curves around the bell housing. You should see the number laser etched in dot-matrix form there. It may be partially obscured by the dipstick tube itself but the etching should be very prominent and reflective.
