DVD Nav

Anybody have any idea when the new DVD Navigation is going to be available in the CLK. I was told it would be an option on the 2004 models, but it is still not showing up on NetStar.

2004 CLK's are still CD Nav. I think only the new E55's will have DVD Nav.

MB sold E class from Sept 02-Jan-03 with the option for customers to have DVD nav installed by dealers in 1q-2q 03. Many people paid for DVD nav which still has not been delivered. You can do a search through the New E Class Forum for the hundreds of posts on the subject.

The final solution for MB is that they are offering customers who prepaid for DVD Nav 2 choices. Double their money back, or the option of ordering a brand new 2003 car, which would be exchanged for their original purchase. These replacement cars are being produced currently, and reports on this site is that they will start coming into the country in the next few weeks.

Their are many of us who have ordered this feature, not knowing much about it at all, as MB has produced no press or literature on the new nav system.

Hope this helps.

The 211 comes with factory fitted DVD comand ever since a couple of months here in Europe...and that is the only model with DVD comand yet.

I do have a Japanese OEM MB DVD comand that fits the 203 and 209 but outside of Japan, it is useless...so only choise you have at the moment (and probably for anothet year) is CD rom based comand.

Steve -

Do you think that at some point, you will be able to retrofit the new DVD-based command into the current W209 ?

My dealer says that the CLK will continue with CD NAV for another year. That is ridiculous. The ML has DVN NAV and the E-class will have it very soon. I think they are just trying to get rid of all the old units from the C-class since it shares most of the console pieces with the CLK.

The W211 E-class already has DVD based nav...the M-class only has DVD based nav in the US...not in europe...

Whether I will be able to install a DVD based comand in the 209/203 in the future depends on how mercedes sets these units up...they might as well come with a MOST system instead of D2B system to connect to all other audio related features...
