Fell Off the front of my Car?
Just purchased 2004 CLK320 cab with 90k miles. Driving down neighborhood street at about 20mph and this part fell out of my car
. Came off of front passenger side in front of wheel well (appears to be some sort of dampner?). Sorry for poor quality pic but numbers on piece are "02M07" and "A 209 620 0314" on one side and "A209 620 1731" on another. I've searched the net but to no avail? This piece is 5-10 lbs, about a foot long and 8-10" wide Can't see any wiring or vacuum tubes coming from it. It also has two bolt holes but bolts are gone (probably why it fell off of car). After pulling bottom side of front end off can't see similar piece on drivers side? Doesn't seem to make car drive any differently. Any ideas? Thanks

I couldn't find it searching either but I fear it has to do with ESP. I agree, check with dealer. Bring it to the parts dept for identification and let us know.

Found the following on topspeed.com talking about a 2006 clk model:
The mass damper attached to the front module also makes an important contribution towards the high level of vibrostability in the new Mercedes Cabriolet. It is designed and positioned to ensure that its moving damper weight (8.9 kg) compensates for body vibrations which would otherwise be felt on the steering wheel and in the vehicle interior.
this hunk of metal is now sitting in the trunk. Will think about reinstalling and see if it makes any difference. So far no appreciable difference in drive before or after piece fell off of car Thanks for the interest.

Update: Drove car for a couple of months without Dampner attached then reattached a few weeks ago. No noticable difference in driving (don't go much over 70 and that's only for a few miles)? Not sure what it actually does piece is back in car.
